    Taking greatness for granted
    Written by Nick Kapsis
    Project Spurs

More often than not, it’s something we’ve found ourselves doing with the stoic consistency of Tim Duncan. There were times he’d put up 20-plus points and 15-plus rebounds and if it happened in a loss, it would seem you’d always hear about a couple of tentative post moves or an ill-timed or costly turnover. The standard of play a fan can become accustomed to and expect is really quite amazing—and even more so when it just seems to come so effortlessly, naturally.

Really, if any team has a superstar or special talent, even the best of fan bases are susceptible. It just so happens that the San Antonio Spurs’ fan base has more to take for granted than most.

I’ll never forget the year Manu arrived.

Manu's hesitation, step-back 3 makes my nipples hard.

That's nothing like the he took on Jack the first time we played GS after he was traded from Indy.

LOL, this play has always baffled me...his first move that causes him to fall backwards is nothing too crazy. Gotta be embarrassing for Jax.

I think it was the fact that he tried to recover and move back towards Manu while his momentum was still carrying him backwards.

Man...whether you are left-handed or right, these moves are money. If you practice them and are proficient at them, you can score a few in your rec league. If you guys watch James Anderson, you'll find that he likes to go left too, even though he's right handed.

Agree, I'm also a right hander who uses my left hand a lot in pick up games, always works to get you free

I love the move & its explanation starting at 2:32 - I didn't realize that he actually PLANNED for that kind of move, always thought it was just craftyness... But now I know it is actually a PLANNED and-1, wow, Manu's B-ball IQ is definitely on another level.

The purpose of most moves is to get you free for a shot, whereas Manu planned this move to get an AND-1 + his defender in foul trouble.

    Manu is the best!
