Catching Malone is not important since he and nique are the
only two ringless wonders on this list (IIRC) ...
anybody dismissing what Kobe has done on this list is pretty silly. Duncan also moved up in to the top 30 on the list and should be appreciated for that as well. thing is for the next few seasons Laker, spur, Celtics and even Mavs fans realy shoud appreciate basketball greatness. Because they are witnessing the twilight years of their franchise greatest players not only smashing their franchise records for scoring rebounds assists etc. But also making their mark on the NBA record books. And oweing their most recent les or finals appearnce (Dirk)to those players.
Kobe and Pierce unfortunately are not undisputed as there franchise's best players due to magic and Bird, but Dirk and duncan are without question the best players to wear the Mavs and spur uniforms. 3 of the 4 have won MVP's and Pierce has a Finals MVP ...and Dirk is the only one sans le, but this season looks like his best shot and he maybe having his finest season because he is now a better defnder than he was in his MVP year.
I know we all love to mock the best players of our rivals, BUT right now as fans of those teams or fans of the NBA in general ...we should appreciate the greatness of ALL of these guys ... because their time though not over, it's closer to the end than the beginning.
Special shout out to Nash as well ...though not sure if he is better than Barkley since he led a Finals charge, and also not sure franchise record wise where he stand in suns history, but the won-loss record and MVP's certainly put him in consideration of greatest sun.

I tried my best to find something to disagree with...couldn't come up with anything.
Great in post
Nice post. The saddest thing about Nash is that he is an all-time great point guard, but he should never be near the top of anyone's list because he was such a liability on defense. It wasn't from lack of effort, either, everyone knows Nash wants to win, and badly. He just didn't seem to have the athletic tools to stay with the faster guards in the West. That really hurt Phoenix, as did a coaching staff that didn't emphasize good rotation on defense. So basically when Nash got burned, no one on the Suns stepped up to cover for him and they went into the fetal position.
Everyone else being mentioned is at least decent on D. Dirk will never be nominated for a DPOY award but at least he's not a huge weakness. He still grabs a lot of boards, which limits chances for the opposing offense to get more shots off.
Duncan and Kobe are locks to be top 10 players all-time by the time they walk off the court and hang them up. Shaq is probably right there as well. Not often that in a short time you see 3 guys who could probably make the first or second all-time NBA teams. And who knows? Maybe LeBron ascends to that plateau by the end of his career as well.
Truth is Truth. Kobe can't be top 5 unless he can prove he can overachieve.
I don't have the link to the interview but he clearly stated that the most important thing to him about being the best player is helping your team overachieve.
Lebron proved he is the better overachiever. So in Kobe's eyes he should see Lebron as the better player.
Of Course, 1v1, he admits he would spank that A**.. lol..
I dont get it. Take away the #1 guy in any team and they drop significantly. Whats the point?
