How about this.. Spurs trade a second rounder for tayshaun prince. Then.. in the summer you sign Tay to a one year max contract.. Then by this time next year you have a Max expiring contract to trade and get some damn good players with! Not bad, Eh?
Imo, I wouldn't mind keeping Tayshaun. I think in his first year with the Spurs, he'd give a lackluster performance similar to RJ, but then in his second season he would be explosive. I see him as being a great fit into the Spurs system. What are odds that this would actually happen? in your opinion.

    & who is de cola?

Our team? Oh we aren't making the playoffs.. I guess that means you can have anyone on our team.. probably even for a second rounder so we can save some money for the new owner.

I have no idea who Cola is.. I debated before with some people and it's my opinion that Tay is a perfect fit for your team.. even more so then RJ. If he is smart and your management is smart he would look at you guys after this year as a team to go to.. and you guys would be calling us at the deadline to get him or more than likely looking at him this summer.

The guy wants to win and is a winner. Great spot up three shooter.. can post you up.. also can bring the ball up and start the offense. His defense has receeded but much of that is and was due to Ben leaving and us now having no real great front court D.

He would still have a difficult time win Artest.. but most other wings in the west he would be a great match for.

It would not shock me if he signed with the spurs in the summer.. I don't think a deadline trade comes though because we are trying to sell the team and I don't think you guys have the contracts to put together to get him.

Prince won't be a piston past this year though.. that's probably 99 percent sure.. I do think your team is one of, if not the, first team he looks at.

Melo is over rated. He's a low efficiency volume scorer who really doesn't bring much else to the table. He's never taking any team anywhere special.

    except Syracuse

I'm sure they would do it.. God knows a top 5 center in the league should be getting less than 11-14 million and I'm sure they will want to trade a young all star center for a center with less than a months experience in the league that hasn't yet made a start. Sounds like a deal.
We all know that NBA teams don't trade players - they trade contracts. If the Bucks were desperate to shed salary I think they'd consider something in that direction. But considering the money they spent this last offseason, they've just assembled a new batch and aren't anywhere near blowing it up again immediately.

If you're Joe average box score watcher or a sportswriter, interested only in simple stats, it's not. If you go to second tier stats, like pts/FGA, the story starts to be told. Melo's is 1.28, not horrible, but about George Hill territory. For example, Manu's career mark is 1.41.

He is hurting my fantasy team this season with his shooting percentages, even on the raw ones.

On his advanced statistics, his TS% is the worst since his rookie season at 52.2%, which is a little below average for a number one option for a playoff team. He takes 18.7 shots per game and 8.1 FTs per game and scores 23.1 points per game. I am pleased with his improvement at the glass though, rebounding over 8 per game.

In comparison, I am going to take a look at the other comparable scorers who are the main guys on their team in the NBA.

Derrick Rose has a 54% TS% and scores 24.7 points per game. He takes 20.6 shots a game and attempts 5.1 FTs per contest.

Kobe Bryant has a 54.6% TS% and scores 26.7 points a game. He takes 20.8 shots and 8.3 FTs per contest.

Kevin Durant has a 55.7% TS% and scores 27.3 points a game. He takes 20.6 shots and 8.9 FTs per contest.

LeBron James has a 57% TS% and scores 24 points per game. He takes 17.3 shots and 9 FTs per contest.

Dwyane Wade has a 57.8 TS% and scores 23.8 points per game. He takes 16.5 shots and 9.3 FTs per contest.

Dwight Howard has a 59.1% TS% and scores 21.5 points per game. He takes 13 shots and 11.8 FTs per contest.

Amare Stoudemire has a 59.6% TS% and scores 26.2 points per game. He takes 18.5 shots and 7.9 FTs per contest.

There you go, some of the top guys in the NBA when it comes to efficiency
when it comes to putting the ball into the basket while producing a lot. Melo is having a down year but his overall game has improved. Taking a lot of 3s and FTs certainly does help in the TS% department, both of which Melo doesn't do that much unless compared to Derrick Rose at the free throw line. (who is shooting 42% on 3s on 4 attempts per game)

This is not to say that Melo is efficient, he is not efficient this season. I am not going to look at PPS though, TS% is a better indicator. Comparing stars of this level, looking at what their shot choices are certainly helps in dictating whether TS% is a good measure of their effectiveness. So far, it has been.

IMO his down year has a lot to do with the in fact down year of Billups. he is really bad (and tired) this year. he makes the Nuggets play a walking game and this takes away some of Melo's qualities. and his shooting struggle allows the defense to focus on Melo even more.

I think it is funny how all these huge ego, "all hat no cattle" players always want to go to NYC...yet the Knicks are consistently the tiest team in the league for the past few years. Not to mention they have a crop of the most highly overpaid players basketball has ever seen.

trade him to some crappy team and have him have to wait another year to get to the knicks and for a lower contract.

why should melo make all the demands ?
