Ok, so clearly you think that it is Wade's ability not Detroit's defense that is doing the damage (or in the case of the latter allowing the damage), and therefore parker will not be able to do the same, anyone else have an opinion?

Bringing this back to Wade--can he be effective if we put him in the Bowenator?

^^^^ I doubt it over the course of a seven game series.

If Bowen can't handle him, the Spurs are finished because I suspect Manu will take E. Jones and Parker will have D. Jones which leaves the men in the middle and Bowen on Wade.

I must say, however, that I feel Bowen will not start on Wade just like Tim and Shaq won't start on each other. But I think Bowen can handle Wade if he was able to handle the likes of Kidd and Kobe.

Having said all that, let's see if the Heat can actually get past the Pistons before we start completely disecting the matchup nightmares and dreams.

Look, one player cannot defend Wade. It will require team defense. The scary thing is, The Pistons have some of the best team defense, and if they cannot stop Wade...

Then again, the Spurs have been allowing 37 points from Amare every night, and still winning games.

Like the Suns, a series against the Heat might be better served by a fast paced game (keeps Shaq limited as well), with Tim, Manu and Tony driving to the hoop and getting the Heat in foul trouble and tired out.

No matter who wins these series, the Finals will be good.

I would rather have Wade a scorer than a passer and as long as the ball is in DWade's hands it is not in Shaq's, whom BTW, is looking increasingly healthy.

Well I think that it will be difficult for Tony to penetrate against Pistons (duh) , he will have to use more his jump shots, but I can see Manu going to the basket he can find the way...
But closing Parker by Det is a problem for tyhe spurs because when he decides to penetrate and Pistons push him off the box then it is 10 sec. less for the spurs to find out another way to score.

usually when Parker decides to penetrate he has the whole defense collaps around him, that should make it easier for our bigs to score lay-ups and dunks.

Wade and Parker play two different games. When Wade goes to the basket, he's usually above the rim. Parker comes in with layups and teardrops. Parker's game is more easily defended by a Detroit or Miami then Wade's. Plus, there's the Shaq factor.

Against Shaq, Detroit has to double, which opens up things for Wade and the other Miami players. In a Detriot-San Antonio series, Rasheed Wallace can guard Duncan by himself for big chunks of the game. (Duncan has said he has the most difficulty playing against long, mobile players like Camby, Wallace, and Garnett.)

That being said, I'm sure there are a few things that can be exploited by watching the tape, but it's not as simple as running the same plays for Parker that Maimi does for Wade.

Detroit have a great defense in the paint, not in the perimeter

Hamilton isnīt Manu in defense, and Prince isnīt BB, porbably Billups have better deffense than Parker

Bruce Bowen can stop Wade, and no one in Detroit Can

Yes, Parker make Layups and Teardrops, Wade can make Jump Shots and Dunks

There are 2 different games, but we have Parker not Wade, and We have Duncan, not Shaq, and we have Manu

I don't think Dwade has much of a jumpshot waly, but agreed the teardrops and layups might be easier to defend.

DWade has a better jump shot (he made quite a few of them in the 2nd quarter) than Tony. I think TP could score against Detroit, but I'd rather have him with 15 points and 7/8 assists a game if that allows him to limit his TO's ...

by the way, TP also dunks (at least once a year) !

Dwayne Wade doesn't have much of a jumpshot? Are you kidding me? He has hit so many clutch jumpers throughout the season, he is such a good jump shooter off the dribble, especially when he's going to his left.

It's hard for anyone to defend that.

Thanks TPark, and Timvp, Im not saying Parker=Wade, but they are both guards that make their living going strong to the basket (Parker a little less strong but...) So if Wade can do it, is it possible Paker can too?
Parker is faster--But a lot smaller. Wade can go in the paint with a lot more force and power through some of the players that Tony has to manuver around.

The Pistons had 1 block against the Heat tonight, and Wade was all over the paint, if he can be so unstopable in the paint, why cant Parker, whos game is also predicated on penetration be successful against them.

The Heat had 3 blocks tonight so maybe they are more dangerous to us then the Pistons.
A more relevant comparison might be between Manu & Wade. Regardless, TP has been excellent at penetrating and scoring. The problem has been the reliability of his jumper. No, TP has a great inside game. What he needs to work on now is his outside game (and free throws, ahem).

I'm glad Tony Parker is our point guard though. I think he, Duncan and Ginobili really play well together.

wade is a streaky jump shooter, like parker. when they are on, they are on. when they have an off night, it is way off. i think wade is a little better about taking more shots even when he has an off night than parker. difference is, parker can afford to have an off night and wade really can't - manu or tim can take over.
