If you lived in San Antonio, the answer would obvious. I doubt that Pop could sit still for 8 minutes of questions from any member of the local media. He'd start giving them the same answers he gives Craig Sager or Ric Bucher.

The local media are pretty mediocre.
You can tell sometimes Popovich is just asking for an intelligent question.
Maybe he should ask himself a question and then answer it.
I would do that.

Former Spurs play-by-play announcer, Greg Papa, sat down with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich prior to the Warriors game to interview him for Chronicle Live on Comcast Sports Net.

Papa and Popovich talked about the current Spurs record, his time coaching in Golden State, his relationship with Tim Duncan and how long he plans on coaching.

"He was a great follower when David was here and it turned him into a great leader," Popovich said of Duncan. "It's pretty hard to not follow his lead."

Popovich also said he plans to continue coaching although he says he does not plan to coach as long as Don Nelson and Larry Brown, who he coached under in Golden State and in San Antonio.

"I still love it and I can see myself coaching for a while."

I should have asked "why do the san antonio reporters suck so bad??!?!

There one guy during the shootaround interviews (always the same voice) who really seems mentaly "limited"...

Papa would call Tim "good ole meat and potatoes" when he did Spurs games. It was an obvious but perfect reference to TD's propensity to get a double-double every night.

They're not, imo. I have always felt the Steelers are a better NFL alter ego for the Spurs organization. The cities, the work ethic, and tradition fits better. The Patriots are like the Celtics. And the Cowboys are like the Lakers.

I couldn't believe how affable Pop was with this guy. Not a single instance of the cynical and sarcastic Pop we usually see. He must know the guy from before and really like him to open up like this.Best interview with Pop I've ever seen--and the three guys at the end remarked on it too.

I never heard of the interviewer before this thread. He is extremely polished, and lo and behold a grad of Syracuse. They produce top notch reporters - Costas, Tirico, the dude in Houston radio.

Had no idea he was a Spurs announcer. Really wish I would have paid attention to the broadcasts from 1997-2000.
