You are right...the way things were going...clearly gasol and artest were gonna win the game.
Now we'll never know. Thanks a lot, Kobe...![]()
You can't criticize Kobe last night, yes he didn't had any assist but the his teammates folded and couldn't get a bucket. Kobe didn't force anything at all and was pretty aggressive all along so he managed to make most of his shots. Time to call a spade a spade.
I will say however that my theory for the past 3 years is correct. Pau Gasol is the Lakers true MVP. I'll give some irrefutable eveidences here. Kobe torced the Celtics last year in Game 6 putting up a similar performance and the Lakers still lost. Bean had another terrific game last night and was extremely efficient at that and the Lakers were blown out. NOt a coincident however was the fact that Gasol had a poor performance in both games.
Gasol complained about the offense last night, and I agree with him. Kobe had a great offensive outing but as a result their team suffered.
Just another worthless regular season game that doesn't mean anything.
Pau Gasol playing well is more important for the success of the Lakers than Kobe playing well. It's too bad he has had the tendency to shrivel up and pussify when he's challenged by physical frontcourts like the Celtics. Pau complaining about the offense last night is pretty strange. Kobe didn't go into chuck mode until midway through the fourth quarter. For most of the second half, Kobe didn't force shots and was a willing passer. And when Pau got touches, he settled for fade-away jumpers he bricked with frequency. Pau disappeared for much of the game because he didn't want to deal with the physical play.
Kobe did go into chuck mode. If anyone else on the Lakers played more assertively and aggressively or started making shots, maybe he wouldn't have.
The above bold could be really good news for the Spurs. Blair matches up extremely well with Pau in this case, as he's extremely physical and quick, and has long arms to keep Pau from feeling comfortable with shots.
Gasol kind of reminds me of how the Warriors guarded Dirk in 2007, by throwing a lot of bodies at him and playing extremely physical the entire time, it took him out of his rhythm. Looks like Pau is vulnerable to the same kind of defense.
I would have thought that if Kobe can win 5 championships all by himself, he is able to beat any team when he is this hot, regardless of how much his teammates sucked.
Kome's assist totals for last night: 0
