what type of charity work does Duncan do? I'm sure that he does something with all of that money he makes, but I have never heard of any charities or foundations from him...
Duncan does most of his Foundation work behind the scenes now, in earlier years he was more public with it. His website isn't updated often, The Foundation is active, it's just not reflected on the site.

    The Tim Duncan Foundation

For years, Tim Duncan has been giving back to his community. Since coming to San Antonio, Tim has supported many wonderful causes. In an attempt to give back even more, Tim decided to create a foundation of his own. Therefore, on December 21, 2001, Tim announced the creation of the Tim Duncan Foundation. The Foundation funds nonprofit organizations in the areas of education, youth sports and recreation, and health awareness and research. Funds for the Foundation are raised through special events and fundraisers. To date, the Tim Duncan Foundation has raised over $650,000 to support its mission by supporting non-profit organizations and programs in South Texas, US Virgin Islands, and in North Carolina.

What Tim has done to Support Our Community

    · Since the first annual event in January 2000, the Tim Duncan Bowling For Dollar$ Charity Bowl-A-Thon has raised over $650,000 for Breast and Prostate Cancer detection, prevention, and treatment. From these proceeds, Tim has donated $142,000 to the San Antonio branch of the American Cancer Society to aid in nationwide, cutting-edge Breast and Prostate Cancer research. Also, $85,000 to the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District to provide free Breast Cancer screenings, mobile mammography, and follow-up diagnostic testing to over 400 uninsured, low-income women in the San Antonio community.

    · The success of Tim Duncan's "Beat Cancer" promotion enabled the Cancer Therapy and Research Center to receive a $50,000 contribution in May 2000.

    · In 2001, the NBA recognized Tim for his commitment to his community by awarding the Home Team Community Service Award. As part of this award, Tim selected the San Antonio's Children's Shelter, the largest and oldest shelter for abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Bexar County to receive $25,000.

    · Tim announced his Foundation with a donation of a new 2001 Gunn Chevrolet Express Van to Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives.

    · In 2002, the Tim Duncan Foundation donated a 4-player Basketball Video Arcade game to the San Antonio Downtown Youth Center.

    · Through funds raised at the SlamDuncan Charity Golf Classic, the Tim Duncan Foundation donated $50,000 to Kids Sports Network, a nonprofit 501(c)3 association that promotes quality sports for kids.

    Looking Towards the Future

We truly believe we can make a huge difference in the lives of many San Antonians with the funds we raise. The Foundation helps support many worthwhile programs such as Tim Duncan’s Character Program which has recently been implemented in San Antonio’s schools to help recognize students that demonstrate strong character values and civic responsibility. The Tim Duncan Foundation has expanded this program to include St Croix, Tim's home in the U.S. Virgin Islands; and to Winston-Salem N.C. area schools near Wake Forest University where Tim attended college.

Thanks to the involvement and support of our community, we have achieved success thus far with our past charity events. We are excited about the opportunity to make an even bigger impact on the community with all of our events this year.

    Tim Duncan Foundation Mission Statement

Tim Duncan commits himself to giving back to his community. Through his involvement in charitable events, it is Tim's hope that he can be used as an instrument to harness the power of professional sports to make a difference in the community. Working with athletes, corporations, and local celebrities, he hopes to generate more individual and corporate giving to support worthwhile programs in the community. It is his desire to help fund nonprofit organizations in the areas of health awareness and research, education, and youth sports and recreation in order to positively impact his community.

We believe that it takes everyone working together to improve our community. Through your tax-deductible donation to the Tim Duncan Foundation, you will help support our community by joining Tim’s team and his mission to “reach for a brighter tomorrow”.
