Why exactly would Dallas want Harris?

They've got Kidd, Terry, Roddy, and JJB. Only three of those four will get rotation minutes in the playoffs. How much better is Harris than whoever you rank as the third best guard that they already have?
Possible that Kidd is involved? NJ was interested in Billups/Andre Miller. Maybe Kidd is backup plan.

I'm not a fan of Harris at all, but he would fit pretty well with the Mavs, assuming that he can still play D(he's been a poor defender for the Nets, but it could be due to effort)..the problem would be the amount of guards the Mavs would have, and if they give up Beaubois, whether it's worth it or not(I don't think it is)..

Harris is not a legit #2 option, but he's a high-end #3, which is better than what the Mavs currently have..his style of play would be ideal for them, since he thrives off the opponent's D focusing on the other options on the team..

Also, obviously, the other options should be an issue..if they can get Stephen Jackson or Iguodala, it would be a better option than acquiring Harris IMO..

As for the Nets, their fanbase already hates Avery Johnson, it didn't take long..
