It's baffling that someone can enjoy the NBA but not appreciate March Madness.

Why is that, what makes NCAA better to you? I watch the last 2 rounds, but I dunno, can't get into it the way I can with the NBA

I used to like College Bball more than I do these days, but of late it has always been about the brackets for me.

Not really, I think the talent level is far better in the NBA (obviously) and the games and you always get the better team winning a best of 7 series as oppose to a one game fluke.

I know I'm in the minority here, just stating my two cents.

    • refs aren't as ty
    • More upsets/more exciting
    • they try a lot harder during games
    • stuff like market size doesn't matter

The one game shocker is really the drawing point. To have Wofford beat, say, BYU (or the chance of it happening...) appeals to people. The 7-game series is nice, but sometimes a series goes through a doldrum on its way to concluding. Both have their merits, but March is generally NCAA time.

It's a joke. The interminable timeouts at the end & the short 3 point line.

I wouldn't hit a dog in the ass with it.

That's the beauty of March Madness. There's virtually no chance you'll see a 5 or lower seed win the NBA Championship, but you'll see teams from tiny colleges sometimes upset mammoth programs like Kansas. There's beauty in the upset. Again, isn't that one of the main reasons to watch a sport, especially if you don't have a dog in the fight that you're already rooting for?

When NI knocked off the Jayhawks last year, that was one of the best things I'd ever seen as a sports fan. You could hear the tearing of about 20,000,000 brackets falling apart at once.

That's what I was gonna ask next, how the refs were since they're atrocious in the NBA. I've been wanting to get into College ball but maybe I need to give more of an effort. The final 4 is always cool, but maybe because I lack the familiarity of the players unlike the NBA, I just can't get the same connection for the time being.

    S t is a beast, TBH.

Clemson's perimeter defense is very solid.

The way I feel is that too many defensive fouls are called in the NBA (so too many free throws), and in the NCAA there are too many offensive fouls called. The amount of offensive fouls doesn't nearly up a games rhythm the way an NBA free throw fest does IMO.

    Jesus WV looks like .

I almost never pick the odds on favorite to win, so when that upset dropped I was going nuts.

Alas, finished #2 in my pool like always.

lol @ all the experts who said Clemson didn't belong...or VCU...and UAB found itself out of the tourney, so that's the only moral victory they could claim.

College ball used to be kind of boring in the 45 second shot-clock days, but now I love the pace; it reminds me of the 80s NBA when offenses weren't so conservative.

For one thing, it's not nearly as much ISO. It makes the game easier to officiate when you don't have wing players as frequently going into the post at full speed and drawing all kinds of contact. Secondly, the game is a little slower (because of lower skill/athleticism, not pace), so again, easier to officiate. Third, there are very few superstars in college, so the refs don't feel the need to make calls based on reputation.
