Coin flip is so Richard Simmons. How about head to head point differential? I'd take that over a quarter
No kidding. How much do they pay that guy? Anyway, we are still a game up on them. If we end up tied, it will indeed come down to a coin toss. That is if any of the pundits and sports analysts are correct about this.

Yeah, coin flip is odd. More importantly, does anyone know if division record trumps conference record in the west and east. Looking at the standings and schedule I'm thinking it will remain as it is today. Dallas and LA, Memphis and NO are tied. Not sure we can get around playing OKC, but wonder who we are going to get in the first round. They got great food in both places, which might be what the team is concerned about.

LA has the tiebreaker over Dallas and OKC
OKC has the tiebreaker over Dallas
New Orleans has the tiebreaker over Portland and Memphis
Tiebreaker between Portland and Memphis will belong to the winner of tomorrow night's game between the two teams
Miami will come out of the East. Book it.
I agree. I think the Bulls depend too much on Derrick Rose on offense. If he has a bad game or two in the Playoffs, it could really screw them up. Boston does look worse this year than last, but they've proven they can get it done when it matters the most. And then theres also the Heat....
Rose scores 40, beats Spurs.
Rose scores 37, beat Celtics.
Too much Rose, not enough offensive balance.
If what I said is indeed wrong, i'd just like to apologize. Random drawing, huh? Weird.
Chicago has a better chance than Boston or Miami to make it to the Finals. I'd rather the Spurs face the Bulls than the Heat or Celtics anyway.

d. Home Court Advantage:For purposes of home court advantage, ties will be broken pursuant to the procedures used for breaking two-team ties for playoff position.
Two Teams Tied
(1) Better winning percentage in games against each other.
(2) Better winning percentage against teams in own division (only if tied teams are in same division).
(3) Better winning percentage against teams in own conference.
(4) Better winning percentage against teams eligible for playoffs in own conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position).
(5) Better winning percentage against teams eligible for playoffs in opposite conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position).
(6) Better net result of total points scored less total points allowed against all opponents (“point differential”).
What Bruno says?
He says it's a coin flip.

Thanks Mel_13 - and Bruno -. Didn't find anything specific about home-court advantage in the Finals.
No problem, I did the same thing.
Unfortunately, the NBA's official website is a poor source of information on the subject.
I've said it many times and I'll never get tired of saying it. If the Spurs somehow eliminate the Lakers, there'll be no stopping them, and that includes Chicago's potential homecourt advantage. I actually am more concerned about the Celtics having a psychological edge on the Spurs more than the Bulls. But, again, the Spurs survive the West, I think they'll win the championship.
lol Stern doing a coin flip.
Manna for conspiracy theorists.
doesn't matter another team is going to knockout the bulls out of the play-offs....bulls aren't going to the nba finals
That's what I thought, thanks.
The Spurs have every reason to mail in tomorrow night's game, if only because an LA win assures that they will be either 2 or 3 and keep them out of the 4 spot.
Conceivably, if the Spurs win at Staples tomorrow, LA could end up with 27 losses and, if OKC wins out (@SAC, v. MIL), would drop LAL (v. SA, @SAC) to the 4 spot (assuming no similar swoon for Dallas (@HOU, v. NOH)).
No matter how great your belief in the Spurs' ability to beat LA, you'd have to guess that the Spurs would rather see LA in the Conference Finals and (assuming both can make it there) and not in the WCSF (assuming each would make it there).
Sometimes, when I post, my own genius amazes me.
Thanks FWD for making my posting SOOOOO easy.
Why are people so scared to face the Lakers early?
There's so many ways you can look at it. Everytime we've beaten LA we've beaten them in the WCSF. Having said that though we never played them when we were clearly the better team in that three season period. Also, the last time we played them we were banged up in 2008. Wouldn't you rather face the Lakers fresher in the second round rather than like in 2008 after a grueling series against NO?
The other view, I guess is, that we can get in better form if we make it to the WCF, and face them in the WCF as we may not be quite ready for them yet in an earlier round. Either way if we have to play them then I think the WCSF or WCF both are just as good a time to play them.
Spurs have good luck in coin flips.
Ask Tim Duncan. :P
I think the Lakers are the only team standing in the way of a Spurs 5th ring. Props to the Thunder for a great year but I think we'd beat them in a seven game series.
I got a ing idea..let them play for it.
