Bull . This loss is almost 100% squarely on Barea. He was getting beat EVERY TIME on defense, and offensively he was either missing shots or making a terrible entry pass, leading to a missed shot or turnover.

This is a not very serious thread so I hesitate posting something intelligent. But here goes:

The problem for the Mavs is, if not Barea, who? I think any knowledgeable observer, which clearly includes Rick Carlisle, understands that Barea is limited as a player, and will not thrive in intense playoff situations where his weaknesses are exposed.

But who would you play ahead of him? Even if Beaubois weren't injured, he's not much of an upgrade from Barea. They've tried running Jones, but he's a rookie and it shows.

Frankly if I were Carlisle, I'd consider putting Sean Marion out there and running Barea at the 2. Yes that is a bizarre thought. But I don't think it could get worse, really.

I think you underrate how badly Barea can play and how the matchups completely change when he is on the court. Dallas needs to stay big. Carlisle is too stupid to realize that though.

Barea is very nice and very important for small stretches, but the 3PG lineup needs to stay at a minimum, and Barea shouldnt get more than 10-15 minutes a game against Portland. It's not as big of an issue against a team like LA, who doesnt have any PG's that know how to use their size to take advantage of him like Andre Miller does.

It's bad enough throwing him out there against regular PGs. It's an even worse idea matching him up against a bulky PG like Miller, who gets off on posting up any and every PG/SG he faces.

I'm not sure what Carlisle was thinking last night. Either Terry or Kidd should be bringin the ball up at all times. , you've even got a 7 footer with decent enough handles to get the ball up court without having to rely on tha 'rican.

Bob on BAD radio was ing LIVID about the whole thing earlier today. It was pretty great. He doesn't get too heated all that often, but...
