So for Dirk to not "choke" he has to make every game winner out there? Right, when did even MJ do that?

I can't believe after everything he has done during these seasons, these playoffs, people will still put it on him.

Nah Dirk is the man. It isn't his fault that no one on the team besides him and maybe Kidd can deliver a clutch shot when needed. Like I said, my only gripe with that last shot was I would had much rather him just had gone for the win with a 3.

Can't make them all man. MJ missed over 100 of these shots in his career, made smth like 30 and yet people remember the latter.

tbh I hate to admit it, but the Heat are clearly the better team imho

Not to say Dallas can't win the series, but I'm really not getting my hopes up too high

The heat have three all stars (two possibly hall of farmers)...that just seems too much for any one team to overcome.

Everyone calls everyone a choker when they lose. The Heat were a bunch of chokers after game 2. Dirk's a choker now. Lebron is clearly a Robin after being a Batman in game 1. People on ST need their heads checked and need to stop knee-jerking so hard.

Huge win for MIA, but Dallas has been in every game. I can't believe the calls tonight and the fact that Dallas somehow continues to shoot more FT's, but that is beside the point. The point is Dallas is in a tough spot and with MIA not losing two in a row all playoff, it could be tough for Dallas to head back to MIA up 3-2. However, MIA hadn't lost at home all playoffs before the Mavs did that, so you never know.

That pass by Dirk out of bounds was really bad though and you can't do that type of stuff in a game like this. The surprising FT advantage from Dallas has been negated by their surprising amount of TO's.

Dirk did everything he possibly could to win that game. I just wish he'd taken a three at the end.

Its not the same in the rs, as it is in the playoffs as it is in the finals. Dirk played much better than his teammates down the stretch and better than most players would/do, but if you are talking best players all time... what percentage of his game winners did MJ miss in the finals? How many times did Jordan walk off a finals floor having just missed the last shot to tie/win? I'm guessing much less than 70%

The thing about this play... everyone loves to say dirk's shot is unguardable, because of his high fading release. I'll be the first to recognize dude has easily one of the best jumpshots of all time. But a high difficulty jumpshot is not a very effective go-to move. down 2 with 4.4, you want your unguardable move to get you a sure 2, or a chance at the win. Dirk has to make an extremely difficult shot just for the tie... You cant make them all, but its not the same to miss an open 3 or have a layup rimout, than it is to clank a high arching pull up fadeaway jumper. Its not his fault they lost, he didn't choke, but neither is he mr. unguardable. The mavs desperately need someone other from dirk to step up on O, Terry and Barea are not enough (as they were vs the lakers).

Yeah, this wasn't on Dirk. He did it on both ends. He rebounded very well, scored efficiently, made timely shots and even had some very good interior defensive plays.

The game was lost because when Wade/Lebron are on the floor with Terry/Marion or whomever, it's hard for those guys to score.

Well , he passed off to white jump-shooting reserves for two Finals-winning shots. How many times did Jordan even take the last shot in a Finals game? The only time I can think of off the top of my head is in Game 6 of the '98 Finals.

Oh, he did miss the potential game-winner in Game 1 of the '91 Finals, I do remember that.

Remember that Nike commercial where Jordan talks about all the times he missed the last shot? It happens. MJ was awesome, for sure, but people talk about him now like he was this perfect being who never missed. He missed.

ok, so you can think of one for, one against, and two times he set up a shooter (successfully). Thats a 25% failure rate, 50 if you dont want to consider the assists, not quite the 70% the original poster implied.
I never said Jordan never missed a finals/playoff/rs gamewinner. but do you really consider Dirk to be an all time clutch player? or are you one of those that say there is no such thing as clutch?

JT and Matrix failed Dirk. I can't put today on him. 34 points should have been enough for a W.
Correct. Dirk did not get the support he needed, while the Heat got a huge boost from Chalmers. Additionally, it hurts that a defensive/rebounding presence like Haywood did not play.
