Sorry, I'm a Spurs fan and any new team winning a le dilutes the exclusivity of winning the le. As much as I respect Dirk, I would love for him to go down as another great player than never won a le. And I would enjoy with great satisfaction the emotional implosion that Cuban would surely have. In fact, I'd love it if the Mavs lost a game 7 on a questionable call.
Here's my preferential order and reasoning, since no one asked.
1. Bulls - they've won before, they play hard, D Rose
2. OKC - I think they will get a le eventually so might as well get one this season, easy to root for Durant and Hardin
3. Dallas - I hate Miami
4. Miami - I hate Lebron
Go mavericks, win your ring. Then everyone in Texas wll have at least one.
If it comes down to Miami/Dallas, I would only then root for Dallas.
I actually really like Dirk, hard to hate on someone as humble as him, but with so much history between SA/Dallas it would just feel awkward pulling for them.
But if I could pull for Dallas against the Lakers, I can sure as pull for them against Miami.
Mark Cuban has been pretty quiet. Kind of disappointed.
It's extremely difficult for me to imagine Mavericks fans rooting for the Spurs all these years. All the Mavericks fans I know cannot contain their envy and disgust with the Spurs' great success. They, at best, might begrudgingly give them their props in public, but deep down they ing hate the Spurs with a powerful passion.
The feeling is mutual....without the envy.

I do appreciate what Carlisle has done with the team. In my opinion, he's coach of the year if you include the playoffs. He deserves a lot of the credit in Dirk's transformation to what he is today. No telling how good Dirk could have been if Nellie wasn't his coach for so long.
There also seems to be a little Pop in him during his interviews.

To with the mavs. Props, shmops. Heat aren't my fav team at all, but no way in are the mavs getting ANY support from me. It's going to be a repeat of '06 in every sense of the word. Mavs are basically the same team as then and now the heat have Lebron and Bosh. I don't see another Texas team winning a le this year. At least an NBA le.

I agree. How pathetic can you guys be? You think Mavs fans would pull for the Spurs? Of course not. And I wouldn't want or expect them to, either.
If there's one player Spurs fans love more than Robinson or Ginobili, it's Nowitzki. Many of you have criticized the Spurs recently for being soft, but look in the mirror.
It's bizarre for me too but I don't know... the fact that they crushed the Lakers gave me mad respect for them. Dirk is a classy guy that just goes out there, makes big shot after big shot, and doesn't talk . He is about as humble as an NBA player can be and I really think he deserves a ring. Plus my friend in Dallas (who dislikes the Spurs) and I made an agreement that we would root for the other's team as long as they weren't playing each other. I just can't stand the arrogance of the Heat. The fact that they threw a championship celebration before the season even started is beyond outrageous.
I won't cheer for the Mavs but I can live with them getting their cherry busted and getting their first ring.
