Derrick Williams winning an NBA championship on the Lakers of all teams would get people in that cesspool of a city known as Phoenix so angry. Too bad it's just a pipe dream of mine.
tbh anyone who can complain about living in a city like Phoenix obviously hasn't been around much. There are much worse places to live. SA for one.
I don't live in Phoenix, I live in Tucson and don't plan on ever living in Phoenix again. I make fun of Phoenix for reasons completely different than what you make fun of SA for. All I'll say is
heavily hispanic population >>> heavily mormon population
That's a bad trade for the Lakers (srs). Kevin Love puts up big numbers but doesn't have as much impact in an offensive set as Pau Gasol and if possible he's actually considerably worse than Pau on the defensive side of the ball. The #2 pick in this year's draft doesn't have nearly the value it would usually have.
I'd REALLY REALLY like to test out that theory. Unfortunately due to family commitments I'm stuck here. But like almost every white dude I know hates it here. At least where I live. And most of them aren't racists or at least not outright ones.
Kevin love isn't really an attractive add to LAL. He would probably add a few more rebounds, but there is no way he'll put up 20/15 as a Laker because Wolves don't have great rebounders like Bynum and Odom. Those two are also more capable offensive players. He would probably put up.....15/12 at most.
Not to mention his defense and athleticsm isn't as good as Gasol's. His x-factor is hustle, though. Lakers don't really hustle in the paint consistently and Love might motivate them how he goes for rebounds with a pretty decent amount of tenacity, that can keep the tempo going.
If LAL got Williams then the bench gets even better and it wouldn't be Odom, Starter and 3 incompetent players. If not Williams they can get Irving, but that wouldn't solve the lack of an effective starter PG.
I wouldn't go for that trade, Pau can fetch a better trade somewhere.
I think people don't realize how mediocre Gasol was after the first month of the season last year.
All the people in this thread saying the Lakers would get the better end of this deal
Yall s need to watch KLove play instead of simply looking at his 20-15 season. Hes white, undersized, and unathletic...he cant create his own shot down in the paint. Most of his points are assisted jumpshots/threes. For those same reasons he doesnt block or alter shots on defense, and he cant defend bigger players. He really only excels at rebounding, the only thing other than that that jumps out is his 3pt range. Everything else hes average/below average. I hope this trade goes down, then we'll see what kind of numbers this overrated puts up when hes not on an 11 win team.
Well it's personal opinion on my part. Plenty of people love living in Phoenix I personally can't stand it. If you want any evidence as to how much of a backwards bible beating city Phoenix has become, look no further than the fact Sarah Palin is moving to the area.
Straight up would have more credibility, but why throw the 2nd overall pick? Gasol's stock isn't high right now and he's much older. In theory he has less good years left than Love.
If this is true, Congratulations to the Lakers for their 2012 Championship. I call bull though.
This deal won't make sense for LA. But ever since Jim Buss took over, nothing has made sense. FML
Everyone who thinks this would be a good trade for the lakers is heavily overrating how good kevin love is. If the Lakers were rebuilding, then this trade would make tons of sense. This trade wouldn't make sense for either team if it were actually real.
