Koolaid tapping out.
As a team leader, Duncan is the top.
As far as talent goes, Kobe is on top.
Depends what how you want to rank it
Honestly only Lakerfan is going to take Kobe over Duncan if they are starting a franchise
The debate is closer than most will admit.
Kobe is obviously the better scorer and Duncan the more "fan-friendly" and natural team leader. Kobe the better athlete.
Both have great fundamemntals ...strong work ethics ...and most importantly champions.
But it's Kobe, Duncan then Dirk in that order.
Not true, I know Mavs fans that would take Kobe as well ...
Really. I loooooove him. Looks aren't everything.
There's also money.
Kidding.![]()
You don't start a team with Kobe. Duncan is the rare type of player that can anchor an elite defense by himself (much like Dwight Howard with all those players around him in Orlando) and play at an elite level on the offensive end. His offensive game is seriously underrated just because the Spurs were scoring in the low 90s-high 80s and played a much slower pace, nor did he ever have a player of Shaq's caliber constantly drawing double/triple teams to pass him the ball while he's wide open.
Tim motha in' Duncan managed to bring 4 les to our ty small town that no one outside of South Texas gives a about while anchoring some of the best defensive teams of all-time as Popovich trusted players like Malik Rose, Rasho Nesterovic, Nazr Mohammed, Francisco Elson, and Matt Bonner to play alongside him after the corpse of David retired in 2003. And he managed win a le with all of those players. I seriously ing doubt Kobe Bean Bryant has any les with Francisco Elson and Matt Bonner manning the paint for him.Dude resides in LA, the team where everyone wants to play whose owners are willing to spend while Tim resides in ville with cheap ass owners.
Duncan and Dirk are similar in that way. Neither are flashy, and neither are media s, so neither typically get the respect they deserve. (No, I'm not putting them on the same talent plane...they're just similar in their approaches to "celebrity", which is that it doesn't matter. They're there to play basketball.)
What other stat is he going to use? Field goal attempts?
Kobe needed help. Dirk needed everyone to get old.
