Personally, I'm not opposed to that. A player is brought on board to help the team win a championship. If the money is guaranteed, the only motivation from that player is his own desire to win. If that players paycheck is on the line (like any worker in any other field), there's more motivation from the player. The whole guaranteed vs. unguaranteed thing doesn't interest me much, though. The only thing I'm interested in in the whole dispute is leveling the playing field between small and big market teams.
What's the point of even having a contract if it doesn't have to be honored? It'll be hilarious watching players hold out the second they feel underpaid.
