Financially Missouri brings nothing to the SEC. Weak fan base to a decent basketball program that is now without the coach that took them there. Football, they can't even win the conference much less BCS anything.
Just like Texas Tech, they bring nothing to the table. When the SEC talks about expanding they want schools that are profitable, marketable, regionally logical, and that they bring something to the table.

The SEC would enter South Texas markets including Houston and San Antonio. That's over 3.5 million regionally.
As if LSU and Arkansas didn't already get gems from the state every year, now imagine Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Georgia sweeping through. Not to mention MSU is on the rise and so is Tennessee.
Financially it's more than logical for the SEC as well. A&M sells out a 90K stadium each home game.. and they have a huge fan base. One that rivals OU and is more than OSU and Missouri combined.

OU can be self sufficient. They could join any conference they want once things crash. The world knows Tech and Baylor are the ultimate bacteria living on this UT fish. A&M is the one with balls enough to step up. They are realizing they do not need UT to remain profitable and successful. The SEC will take care of them like they do all their members.

Arkansas gave the finger to UT and left the SWC before it and Texas ultimately ran it into the ground. Schools like TCU and SMU were the victims left to join weak conferences and ties.
A&M is the modern Arkansas, smelling the UT is putting in the air and are tired of it. Poor little Arkansas..... look where we are now. A better program than UT! Nobody could have predicted that.
Auburn/Alabama/Florida/LSU/MSU have better upside right now than UT. One 5-7 season and look at the ing panic when A&M starts flirting with us again.

Football they've been wayyyyyyyyyyy more successful than A&M, same with basketball.
They are the biggest deal in the state of Missouri
They are every bit as logical regionally as A&M (meaning neither are traditional southeastern schools, but tap into huge metro areas Houston/KC/Stlouis). Neither is Arky for that matter, which has only been in the SEC since 91'
And the academics are fantastic, which would do the SEC an enormous amount of good
