The first inkling of news from the Big 12 or Missouri just surfaced on the Big 12's official web site.

    http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArtic...CLID=205321841

Here's what the league had to say regarding today's meeting:

In a regularly-scheduled meeting today at an undisclosed Dallas area location, the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors reaffirmed previous action to execute ins utional grants of Tier 1 (over-the-air) and Tier 2 (cable) television rights to the Conference.

The Board also discussed a wide range of topics including NCAA legislation, the Bowl Championship Series, and exploration of a Conference dedicated TV network. Additionally, a strong desire for the University of Missouri to maintain its Big 12 affiliation was expressed. All 10 member ins utions and TCU participated in the meeting.

Let's see where it goes from here.

    Stay tuned...

    3:55 p.m. Update:

More speculation out there about who will replace Missouri in the Big 12. Most believed that replacing Texas A&M with TCU was a pretty good score for the league. TCU may not quite be what A&M is today. But joining the Big 12 certainly gives TCU that type of potential long-term.

So what will it take to equal Missouri? Not nearly as much. It's obvious, by now, that Louisville, West Virginia and BYU are among the top candidates to join the league.

Nailing down any of those three will take some work. With that in mind, there has been more speculation out there that includes names like Tulane, South Florida and even San Diego State.

Here's a recent take from Mikie DeCourcy of The Sporting News on the possibility of adding South Florida. I'm all for it. I'd love regular trips to Tampa.

    http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-foo...d-be-wild-card

Regardless of which school or schools the Big 12 would add once Mizzou leaves, it looks as if it may happen quickly. The following, from ESPN Dallas a couple of days ago, includes comments from OU athletic director Joe Castiglione on the Big 12's plans.

    http://espn.go.com/dallas/story/_/id...ves-conference

Still waiting for word from Columbia, Mo. Everything and everyone is eerily quiet right now.

    Stay tuned....

    Tulane? TULANE??? LMFAO.
Hey! Tulane finished freakin 12-0 and freakin 7th in the country in 1998. They were Boise before there was a Boise. How did they reward their brilliant offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez after head coach Tommy Bowden left for Clemson? They passed him over for Georgia's offensive line coach. Show some respect!

    Kirk Bohls

...Asked why the Big 12 would be upgraded, the official said, “West Virginia has better football than Missouri, better basketball than Missouri, a better budget than Missouri and more passion among its fans than Missouri. They’re better, anyway you turn ‘em. The travel’s not good (to Morgantown, W. Va) but that’s it.”

He added there is support for Louisville, but said a lagging football program hurts its appeal.

because one one season is the same at 10 seasons?

Tulane's average record over the last 22 years is 4-8, in a crappy non-AQ conference

oh my god how do you make that comparison?
Tulane was in the SEC and actually went to some rose and sugar bowls like 70+ years ago
BSU wasn't even D 1-A til '96, and it only took them 4 years to start winning all the time

I was being sarcastic. But anyway Tulane's academic standards makes it difficult to recruit. That's why their 12-0 season is pretty impressive albeit one season because they don't play by the same rules with anyone in their conference at the time and C-USA had was tougher back then with Louisville, Cincy, and TCU at the time.

    COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) --

....Graham Harrell threw three touchdown passes to Robert Johnson, including the game-winner with 26 seconds left, and Texas Tech beat Texas A&M 31-27 on Saturday.

....Tech trailed 27-24 when Johnson outleaped A&M cornerback Jordan Peterson to make an acrobatic catch in the front corner of the end zone, stunning the crowd of 85,979, the eighth largest in Kyle Field history.
