How is Kobe going to respect this guy? The entire team won't respect this guy because they all played for a guy that knew what he was doing.
This is bad...really bad.
Mehhh ...was not 100% sold on the hire.
But, the guy CAN coach defense. Despite our aging backcourt we have better defenders here than they had in Cleveland ... (though we have no one with the athleticism and speed of Lebron)
Offensively we imported a Euro coach to improve our half-court sets. Better defense will lead to easier baskets, though we really could use Brown or Ariza back, heck even Farmar is missed due our lack of speed/athleticism.
We may not win it all ...but im pretty sure if we do not, lack of coaching probably will NOT be the primary factor. If we don't win it means (in order of probablity):
1. Dallas defends their le
2. Miami (lebron) took the next step and we are Fockked!!!
3. OKC or Chicago took a Huge leap forward
4. Injuries derailed us ...
5. We just are not good enough or have gotten too old ...
6. Mike Brown loses control of the team ...

Van Gundy was just saying on NBA TV the other day that the compressed training camp is going to be an issue for teams with new coaches (including him, IIRC he just signed up with the GSW) or important personnel changes. There's just very little time to establish a new system, explain and practice the concepts, etc.
Which IMO will be the go-to excuse if things don't work as expected with Mike once the season is rolling...
