Spurs front line is in big trouble tonight. Gay ready to give Leonard his official welcome to the NBA.
Don't know if Grizz are rusty...but some of the Spurs will be.
This game will be about how easy the Grizz can score in the paint.
Dex's Keys to the Game:
1) Contain ZBo - Both of the Grizzlies bigmen gave the Spurs fits during the playoffs, and Memphis will be returning with the same vaunted frontline. While stopping both Gasol and Randolph is probably an impossible task given the tools that the Spurs have to utilize, neutralizing one of the two drastically increases the Spurs chances of a W. Players need to pack the paint against ZBo and make him the primary defensive focus, and whoever is guarding him needs to step out on him when he goes to that jumpshot which devastated the Spurs last spring.
2) Gang Rebound - The whole Spurs team needs to hit the boards like it's going out of style. This will be an ongoing theme throughout the entire season as the Spurs are undersized inside and don't have any proven glass cleaners, but this will be especially important against teams like the Griz which outsize the Spurs and are likely to win the physicality battle.
3) Diamond in the Rough - With Hill gone and Neal out with spontaneously exploding body parts, the Spurs are going to have to look for production out of some unforeseen places. Maybe it comes in the form of Jefferson streaking like he did to start last season. Maybe it comes in the form of a Bonner barrage of threes. Maybe it comes in Anderson coming off the bench and being Buckets Jr. Either way, someone else is going to have to step up and help put points on the board, especially while it appears that the Big 3 are all still working to get their conditioning back for four quarters.

go spurs go!![]()
Get Gasol and Randolph in foul trouble. That should be priority number 1, 2, and 3.
Spurs 115 - Grizz 104
Grizz - 94
Spurs - 100
time to see if anything has changed since last season.
i think the Spurs win tonight by 10+. i think Gay disrupts Memphis' chemistry and the inside-out strategy that worked so well for them. once they get it figured out they'll be alright, but i predict early struggles for Memphis this season.
106-93 Spurs
I think we gonna come out hard on the Grizzlies and make it a non compe ive game just like Miami did to Dallas yesterday. Expecting 3's made over and over in blow out fashion, at least comfortably. Man I am excited!!!![]()
Let's get this season started! GO Spurs GO!![]()
not sure what to expect tonight - hoping being at home and emotion of season opener will help overcome any weaknesses we still have that Grizz took advantage of last season - whatever happens hope we can avoid the one game melt downs, fire pop threads, Bonner sucks thread, or the over hype we gonna win it all threads. Its one game and still a long shorten season to play
GO SPURS GO!
Let's see if we have any gamers.
"I want more small ball. I just can't have enough."
Bonner is back! woohoo
No Greivis Vasquez; Spurs should WIN
I'm excited despite there being little hope of a le this year.
If I can see #21 and #20 on the floor, it's worth it.
best of luck to the Spurs
