    They have to know, as I alluded to when they were unveiling their plan, that Dwight might not make it to free agency. The chance of getting Dwight was always probably low, even if this turns out to be false.

    Keep in mind that when teams are under the cap it's not just about free agents. You can absorb trades without sending anything back which is extremely valuable. There are always teams that overpay really good player and then look to dump them when they aren't winning. Mavs would have flexibility in free agency and in that regard for the next couple years.
