Yeah, when the 3's are falling its great for the team, but when they aren't what else can he offer?
what no mention of his +\-? Bonner shot well tonight and like others mentioned it was done with a large lead. That said, he needs to consistently score a good clip of points to compensate for his weaknesses on d and by the rim.
Good job Bonner - way to win the game tonight!

expectations or not - the spurs need a better role player than what they get out of bonner or they need bonner to be a much better player than he's been.
every role player is now more important on the spurs as the firepower of the big 3 has dwindled.
of a game for Bon-Dog tonight..
bad take.![]()
True. In regards to Bonner, anything he does positive on the floor, I consider icing on the cake. The problem, for several years now, is the lack of a starting bigman to pair up with Duncan. As Duncan gives way to father time, that glaring hole at the 4/5 gets bigger and bigger. Just guessing, but because of no quality big to pair with Duncan, Pop oveuses Bonner, in the hope he can at least score, which most of us know, has failed.
He does hit some shots here and there like some said, but his mins are too high in playoff games when he is off etc.! If he is not hitting he doesn't do a thing, thats my problem! A black hole on both ends of the floor in big games to me is just useless. If he plays his role fine! But he is overused IMO when he is off and Pop needs to learn that to balance it out. If he is off sit him, if not let him roll.Great post!
I agree with everything you're saying, but just looking at the alternatives, I understand why he keeps trotting Bonner out there. This is the chance for Blair, and/or Splitter to step up, so hopefully Bonner won't keep getting overused.
too bad the spurs couldn't have invited another neal to camp, but this time a big man "neal".
it's early but I'm glad to see some of the other role players improving the bench dramatically over last year - maybe they can hide bonner in tight games or better yet give pop a reason not to give bonner so many minutes.
Co sign
Lmfao he had one good game this seasonand you expect everybody to be all over his nuts.
I bet you'll bump this thread around 3 times a month just like Bon Bon fans have been doing the last couple of years whenever he FINALLY has a good game.
His stats may indicate he had a great game. But when he was out there with Splitter, the Spurs looked terrible. Hopefully, it's just Pop resting people. But if that lineup (think it was also Neal, TJ, and...can't remmeber) was put in a close game, it'd be a disaster. If he's not about to shoot, Bonner looks clueless when the ball is in his hands. It immediately stops any ball rotation.
No expectation. Just an observation.
I'll take that bet.I bet you'll bump this thread around 3 times a month just like Bon Bon fans have been doing the last couple of years whenever he FINALLY has a good game.
I'll also bet you the next time the Spurs lose with Bonner getting minutes that more than one Spur fan will whine about him playing too many minutes.
Spurs fans complain when he gets too many mins. and sucks it up big time which he does A LOT, his job isn't hard, all he's got to do is take and make WIDE open 3's. Take the Nuggets game last year when Harrington went off, that is just one of MANY examples. Bonner guarded Harrington the whole game and Harrington raped the out of him, scoring 27 points on 67% shooting in just 28 mins.
Or one of the Heat games last year where the Spurs were up by 10+, Bon Bon came in, Bosh/Wade/LBJ literally scored 12 points just on him in the 5-10 mins. he was out on the floor for, they erased the 10pt deficit and went on to win the game.
Or the Mavs game last year in March where Marion raped Bonner, scoring 13 points in 13 mins on 75% shooting, luckily he injured his wrist that game and had to leave. Spurs were up by like 10+, Bonner came in, Marion scored on him at will, and the Spurs blew the lead.
Bonner has blown countless leads these past years just by himself those are just a few examples, his play has forced the starters to play more minutes than they had to, and play even harder to regain all the leads he's blown.
Lol whining about Bonner after a nice game.
Lmao Bonner haters
Bad plan to have Bonner guard Bosh, Wade, and LeBron...
Bonner can only play depending on matchups. Pop's got to be smart about that.
, just count this one as backpay.
Bonner's first bucket gave the Spurs a 26-9 lead. He could have went 0 for 9 for the rest of the night and the Spurs still would have came out on top.
As a matter of fact, take away Bonner's offensive contributions and the Spurs still win by a bucket.
One could even argue the spurs would have been better off without Bonner after he boasted a +/- of +2. Only TJ Ford (+1) Ike Diogu (an even 0) and James Anderson (-4) had a worse +/-.
Outside of Tiago and Green (+15 collectively) no one else was below +16 on the night (including Blair who notched a +16 in 18 minutes of action).
Anyway. All of this goes to say is that the OP is a useless tool and that the spurs played better when Bonner was on the bench. Come back and post this when Bonner's contributions are actually relevant.
lol "fact" that the Spurs still win.
Using plus/minus against Bonner? That won't end well. Bonner is the Michael Jordan of plus/minus.
