Tim Duncan.
All-time I take Duncan.
Right now, I would take Garnett, as neither guy is a #1 type player anymore, but Garnett would be the better #2 player.
Duncan, but it's probably a bit closer than most Spurs' fans would like to admit.
That said, it's still clearly Duncan. Better team defender, higher BBIQ, more consistent production. And Duncan was much, much better in the post at all aspects of the game, which opened the floor for the rest of his teammates. Garnett was all too content for most of his career to shoot 18 footers, and didn't step it up late in the game nearly as much for most of his career.
You can make a case for KG too because hes a better defender at this pointand has an out and out position.
Tim is too skinny to guard 5's and too slow to guard 4's so hes struggling to guard anyone really. His help defense is still great as usual though, as evidenced by his 4 blocks today at the rim.
Offensively, both can really only score consistently from open jumpers.
Devils advocate fwiw
Too close to call. if I want the best defensive presence, I go with KG. If I want the overall package, I go with TD. Both are putting up similar numbers and can probably get fired up on any night.
Too close to call. Both are putting up similar numbers; KG is more athletic while Duncan is more efficient. if I want a purely defensive presence, then I go with KG. if I want the overall presence, I go with TD.
This.
But better said, a better #3 player.
They are both horrible this year, but I guess KG is less horrible.
Prime, Garnett by far.
If building franchise, Duncan.
Whoever has ClippaLuva needs to give it to someone else.
The troll has great potential, and it's being put to no use
