manu needs to play right away and then be traded after he proves to the nba he is heatlhy for a player that is close to him
why spurs can not afford to pay someone close to what he is making and not have them playing in the posteason
    ducks is as Manu goes.

I'd like back ASAP, even though its more injury risky, he needs that time to get back to his peak playing prowess.

Also, I have him on fantasy, and I want fantasy points. lol.

The team is doing fine and we don't need him right now. I would hate for the young guys to loose their playing time and the confidence they're playing with right now. I'd rather have him wait until sometime in March to come back. That would give him enough time for him to get ready for the playoffs. In the meantime he can start practicing with the team though.

Every player on the Spurs benifits playing alongside Manu plus winning is the ultimate confidence builder. Playing off Manu far outweighs the slight impact a couple of the youngen's may experience from a reduction in mins.

In regards to Manu not starting, we could see that for a few games but i think he will start eventually. As a starter he's looked the most comfortable in his career. You put him back to a sixth man role, spurs could end up with the frenetic, only one gear Manu. Just not worth it at this stage of his career.

Manu will start again ... this will stop the starting unit digging the team a hole the bench has to get them out of ... maybe start Kawhi instead of Jefferson ...

The way we are playing I think we could wait til after ASG....Plus gives our new guys a bit more time to learn our system and get comfortable....And Manu extra time to heal correctly....That would be a messed up thing to bring him back too early and have him re irritate his injury.........

people are saying manu needs time off but if he's ready and cleared, pop should put him back as soon as possible. spur fans wants manu to rest but parker deserves a break more. he's been carrying the spurs since manu's injury and the sooner manu comes back, the sooner the spurs lessen the burden on parker.

I agree. Pop won't use Manu until he has complete medical clearance, but once he's cleared he needs to play.

I don't understand some of the posters who are saying that the Spurs should keep Manu out until the playoffs. He needs to get into game shape before the playoffs start. He needs to get into a groove, and he can't do that or wait until the playoffs start. Best bet it is to start playing him as soon as he is medically clear.

LOL same here. Not sure how I'd feel if he was back tonight (more than likely ecstatic, but it'd be nice to get some more playing time for the younger players).

Ginobili could return to the Spurs lineup in a week

Before the San Antonio Spurs’ 89-84 Monday night win over the Memphis Grizzlies, coach Gregg Popovich gave media members his most positive assessment yet of All-Star guard Manu Ginobili.

“The doctors say he’s healed and healthy,” Popovich said, according to Spurs Nation, the San Antonio Express-News' Spurs blog. “It’s just a matter of conditioning and timing, rhythm and confidence, all those things right now.

Manu Ginobili is finally healthy and could return to the Spurs lineup in a week. “I’d expect him (to return) in the next week or so.” The Spurs have been without Ginobili for 21 games since he broke his shooting hand on Jan. 2 in Minnesota. He later required surgery and needed substantial time to heal.

San Antonio is 14-7 since losing its most productive scorer (Ginobili was averaging 17.4 points per game), thanks to a number of role players who have picked up their play. Rookie Kawhi Leonard, Gary Neal and Danny Green have banded together to make up for his absence on the wing.
Popovich and point guard Tony Parker watched Ginobili work out after the official team shootaround had ended Monday, according to Spurs Nation. Parker told the website he was happy to see Ginobili look healthy on the court.

Ginobili has been in and out of the Spurs’ starting lineup over the years. Popovich said he plans to bring Ginobili off the bench when he does return and try to ease him back into game shape.

Great news. Manu will primarily get minutes as the back-up PG at first. Essentially he can steal some of the Cory Joseph/Danny Green/Gary Neal back-up minutes plus a few from RJ as he acclimates back.

Then it's off to the races.
