I think you just don't like the fans to be overconfident. I don't think the players played sloppy because they felt the fans' overconfidence.
That was horrible. I was like WTF????Freaking Spurs fans got so bored they started doing the wave.
Game 6 of the NBA Finals and we're doing the wave????
Whats worse is after a couple minutes, the SBC and coyote got into it and started encouraging it.

No they played sloppy because the players were overconfident too.
lol.
This has happened before.
This is where you miss an Avery Johnson.....
I'm so disappointed to have been right about that one -- puro San Antonio, though. I heard it from the time that I woke up this morning. You could hear it in conversations around SBC Center before the game and it carried right through for most of 4 quarters. It was palpable -- some "fans" seemed to be saving it for some big celebration at the end.
Terrible reaction by San Antonio. Terrible.
It's on the Spurs for being rattled when it mattered the most, but the fans here didn't help the home team the way that Piston fan represented in Motown.
sigh. I thought precisely the same thing.
The Spurs were more overconfident than Sean Elliott chewing gum going into game four of the 2000 series. The entire city was overconfident.
Nice of you to throw in the ntire city for something suits in the SBC Center did.
Go out to Champs or Fatso's or The Coast or whatever sports club/bar you want and tell me they're not making noise.
Man, it was everywhere at SBC. It was everywhere around town today. The first thing I heard on the radio this morning was the City's plan for a Thursday parade. That's freakin' ridiculous when you haven't accomplished anything yet. When I went to lunch, all I heard was about how the series was over -- how the Pistons couldn't deal with losing Game 5 -- how the Spurs would just bury them -- how this was just like 2003. The complacency was off the charts.
You're right in the sense that I shouldn't include the WHOLE city, but it's really on all of us for assuming things that hadn't yet happend. Optimism is one thing. Complacency is something else entirely.
Yeah, planning for an event before hand is real stupid. I guess if the Spurs won tonight, the city was supposed to start planning tommorrow?Man, it was everywhere at SBC. It's weird that Detroit was also polanning for a parade today.
Did you know that the city also had a planned parade for Saturday had the Spurs lost tonight and won Thursday.
It's called getting your together.
That's called confidence. I don't see how that relates to the SBC Center and whether or not its loud enough for your nipples to pop out. When I went to lunch, all I heard was about how the series was over -- how the Pistons couldn't deal with losing Game 5

Fine. Plan it, but don't go around publicizing it like its a done deal. Respect your opponent, take care of your business, and announce it when the series is actually over.
There's a major difference between confidence and optimism and complacency. Confident fans, optimistic fans are loud and proud. Complacent fans tend to not do much, figuring that the thing is done. I thought complacency was rampant at SBC Center tonight, but what the do I know -- I was only there and in the middle of all that. That's called confidence. I don't see how that relates to the SBC Center and whether or not its loud enough for your nipples to pop out.
The crowd for the most part was complacent. The crowd was much better when it felt there was something on the line, like Den Game 2 and Seattle Game 5
Yeah, don't clue in 2 million people about when a parade is going to be if the team wins.
Leave them clueless until just moments before it happens. Then roll one of those beeping scrolls on the TV.
Umm... they would have had plenty of time to alert the public of when the parade would be. It's not like if they won tonight, it would be tomorrow morning.Yeah, don't clue in 2 million people about when a parade is going to be if the team wins.

If the team won tonight, that only gives them tomorrow to do something.
Why not spread the word before hand about when it's going to happen.
It doesn't change anything. It's not the reason the Spurs lost.
It's not the reason for anything except for this silly little argument between me and FWD.
Bottomline is the fans and the Spurs acted like the game was just a warmup before they hand out the trophy.
Agreed,
all the freakin river parade, all the drinking .
All that does is fire up the goddamn Pistons.
But whatever, "WERE WINNING BY TWELVE!!" - Some moronic antonian
If the ing Pistons need anymore motivation other than it being a win or go home game, then they shouldnt be in the finals.
"BUT THE RIVER PARADE MAD THE MEAN MAN MEANER MOMMY!" said the front running quitter.
OK anyone who wasnt at this game has absolutely NO clue.
I went to 7 playoff games last year and it was NEVER this loud. I went to 20 reg season games last year and it was never close. I have been to games in Houston and Dallas and their arenas never touch the decible level the SBC got to tonight. The place was absolutely nuts.
However, the side of the arena facing the benches was pathetic. We had a wave going and NOONE on that side took part. Even the coyote called that side out. Even still when they were doing intros the SBC center was shaking. I was took some pics and even with my cameras auto steady feature on they were nasty as .
The SBC was oput of control tonight. To think other wise is just ignorant.
Just read the wave comments.
What the is wrong with the wave? Would you tools rather they just stand and yell wrecklessly for 48 minutes?
I haven't ever missed a playoff game at SBC Center (including tonight) and have missed very few regular season games.
Tonight in that building, it felt and sounded like December, not late June.
I guess I'm just ignorant, though. What the could I possibly know?
Yeah because the wave has a point other than to occupy bored Spurs fans.
YES!!!Would you tools rather they just stand and yell wrecklessly for 48 minutes?
THe wave is the most pathetic thing ever invented in sports.
I dont know where you were sitting then pal but section 208 was going nuts all night. I yelled and stood the entire 4th.
Dont take offense to the "ignorant" comment. Just stirring the pot.
Well this thread is moreso about the people in the lower level seats not cheering. Upper deck is always much louder.
