I wouldn't say she was looking for it. It's just how she took it.

And tons of s live there, flapjack.
Sure but when people think Oak Cliff they think "black" or "hood". I know I do.
Then you're apart of the problem. And beware. Whitey is moving back
lol I'm a part of the problem because I think Oak Cliff is black and hood? Have you been down there? DEFINITELY a predominantly black area and not quite the safest area to live, I don't know who you are trying to fool. Anyway, I don't care if "whitey" is moving back. Why should I be aware of this?
So, you are offended that the realtor did not want to spend her time going to look at a house in an area that you yourself call the hood and unsafe?
The realtor probably made all those promises of looking at houses when she thought you were going to be spending more on rent. IIRC, they usually make a commission equal to one month's rent, and that is all. She did not want to waste her time going to look at a house and take interior pictures when you are no going to want it. She figured someone making that income would not want to live in that area.
Ridiculous... IMO both of you need to lighten the up. Not everything is racially motivated. Its like this that give real racists ammunition to excuse their bull , when black people just jump at the chance to get offended by every little thing.
Its obvious you do because you're completely projecting YOUR view of the suburb on something the realtor said. Says more about you than the realtor, tbh.
"I hope I am not offending you, just being direct." = CYA
don't you live in tha SOC?
Not all of Oak Cliff is hood. They have mansions over there as well and beautiful huge homes cheap as . As a realtor, she should know that. I really don't think it was her place to come to that conclusion for us that the house was going to be trashy because of the rep Oak Cliff has and to think which house is best for our money. Maybe that house was actually best for our money even if it's in a bad neighborhood. She was willing to go all over town but she doesn't want to go to THAT part of town. What if my wife made her seeand take pictures of all the other houses that were on the "clean" side and declined all of those?
You know what they says when you assume, but this time it's just you.
You can look at the crime stats there and see that it's not quite the safest place in Dallas to live but we were willing to take that sacrifice in turn for a huge house for dirt cheap. We also have in mind that not all of Oak Cliff is like that. I could see both ways that the realtor didn't want to waste her time on a cheap house or quite simply that maybe she didn't want to ride around in a "trashy" neighborhood. She shouldn't have suggested she would go outside of her area and then change her mind because she doesn't cross that "border". She should've just done her job.
Creepn, I see where you're coming from but I don't think she was intentionally trying to be racist. It's a well known fact that a lot of white people are racist and are aware of their white privilege, so they'll say/do things to push our buttons. I don't think she is one of those whites.
In this case I think she meant well but her racist subconscious came out and said something insensitive to you and your wife. Sorta like michael richards with the N word rant, bad example. Take it as a lesson learned and only do business with black realtors from now on.
"Hi, I have some lovely places to show you"
"The first place is a fully renovated 1B,1B in a very up-and-coming neighborhood"
"Now on this one you have to share my vision; it's a bit of a fixer-upper as its a short-sell"
"This may be slightly out of your budget but I wanted to show you since it meets all of your demands. Perfect to raise a family"
/fake racist
Yeah I think that's a main issue black people faces nowadays. White people would say some stupid insensitive but don't realize that they are being offensive and it wasn't their intention to offend either. Me and my wife both had co-workers like that. They would bring up some stereotype and would try to debate it from that standpoint. Then afterwards they think all is well and send friend request on facebook or something.
That shows you those people aren't seeing race, just people. It's you projecting IMO.
REAL email interaction with racist realtor and my wife

Oh please, so if Wild Cobra in real life told me his reasons he doesn't see black surgeons, I shouldn't be offended?
Oh, she sees race alright. Maybe not in a totally racist way but she sees it.
I'm not saying there aren't racists, just that what you described sounded like what I said.
Op, if you want to find an example of racism, here it is brah, from your boy Trill.![]()
yeah that, or MAYBE you and your wife are being overly sensitive and coincidentally playing to the black stereotype perfectly. Congrats on that
