Wow, Leonard almost got screwed. Knight and Shumpert were good but Leonard was obviously better.
You like Shumpert? Every time I watched the Knicks he just seemed like a chucker on offense. No way he makes the rookie 1st team playing anywhere but New York.

Shumpert is going to be a good player. He's one that can play on both sides of the ball. His defense is very commendable

This is really disappointing in a way, as Kawhi should be #3 (at most #4 behind Faried) instead of being in a lucky 3-way tie for 5th place. I've already said in another thread that when all is said and done, Kawhi will have had the best career of any player in his draft class.

He was good for a rookie. His offense was horrendously ugly but he was immediately probably a top 20 perimeter defender in the league.

No way he makes the rookie 1st team playing anywhere but New York.
Agreed. If he played in New Orleans or Utah he doesn't even get a vote.

fck scrubs producingon scrub teams against scrubs in their conference

KL is legit forcing his way into the starting lineup, playing against top compe ion in the west and gettin the hard assignments....

fkn voting fail when u have shuumps and faried on first team...where were they in the first round? oh yeh eating losses

That's just the nature of the beast with rookie honors. The best players usually end up on the crappiest teams, so it all ends up being about individual numbers and notoriety. Spurs fans watched Leonard all year and know the impact he has on games. Everyone else sees a stat line that only says 8 points and 5 boards.

They don't really take overall play into account do they.

btw how is irving the only unanimous selection?

It amazes how much respect big markets get from the media, a chump like shump gets voted in all first team and kawhi a much better overall player just better player period is behind him new york is just garbage and like some said it's only because shump played in new york he got the votes he did.

Good honor for Kawhi. Even though, he probably doesn't know he made it.

More proof why people should never put media voted awards when trying to compare players

if i had to vote for rookie first team it would be
    irving
    rubio
    isiah thomas
    kenneth faried
    leonard

    2nd
    parsons
    shumpert
    knight
    thompson
    and some other scrub

thompson imo doesnt deserve all 1st team
he only plays well since his team is told to lose on purpose and he doesnt have to play in a structured enviroment
if he misses shots theres no pressure, all hes told to do is go out and get big stats

thomas is a very good true pg and he has the stats to back it up
if the kings dump tyreke evans which it sounds like they want to
a core of the improving cousins, thornton and thomas could make the 8th seed or possibly higher if they get some nice vets to balance out the manchilds

You guys are blaming others for underrating Kawhi, which is true (because they didn't see him play night in and out), but you are doing the same with Shumpert. He was average at the beginning of the season because he was playing PG, which he is absolutely not. Once he moved to the wing he could display his excellent perimeter defense and his ability to drive, and his athleticism is off the charts. He needs to improve his shooting and his shot selection but I believe he'll be really good.

Six members of the current Spurs roster made all-rookie teams -- Duncan ('98), Parker ('02), Ginobili ('03), Blair ('10), Neal ('11), Leonard ('12) -- and all did it with the Spurs.
Duncan and Parker were both first teamers, as well as Neal and now Leonard.

Ironically enough, Ginobili was actually an All Rookie 2nd Team guy.

    Injured until January, IIRC.
