Showcasing and humiliating a player with a public tongue lashing for fouling a player are two different things.
Pop will do that to any player, any game. What's so special about the waxed brazilian that he shouldn't get criticized?

    Pop burned Splitter with fans

Tiago missed two years of his career ''Playing Rookie Game'' with Greg Popovich, c'mon the guy plays basketball in europe since 2000 when he was 15 years old... he eat bench for players like old McDyess, Matt Bonner and Blair... and for worse, Spurs coaches changed his free throw shot style, we was 67% FT shooter in europe, now a 50%, well done! the psychological of Splitter must be a total waste. Should be traded to a team where he can improves his game with quality, if not, back to europe.

    bull and .
When has he dressed down Bonner in 4 years of YMCA defense?
Neal had a complete defensive blow on got Fisher for a crucial trey. Common NBA knowledge all Swisher can do is catch n shoot and yet the mental fart D continues....

Concordo plenamente. Popovich foi bosta nesta seria e tem sido péssimo desenvolvendo Tiago. Espero que Tiago pode jogar num time que o valoriza mais!

If we had used Splitter during the season we could have tried to counter the Thunder small ball with our own version of tall ball. I don't know if it would have worked but it would have been another option and I'm sure Tim would have enjoyed the help of a seven footer. It is too bad this option wasn't available since Pop did not build any reliable chemistry between these two during the season.

Pop was on a panic mode. Pathetic.

If anyone should retire, it should be him. Get out of the kitchen if you can't take the heat anymore.

Spurs are starting to get defensive pieces to add to the equation. It makes sense to play Duncan and splitter together

Yeah Pop is starting to piss me off. He didn't get in Diaw's ass for always passing the open shots, the dumbass rotations in this series, no Duncan and Splitter except after the Lakers ass kicking, not even trying out Mills earlier in the playoffs when we all knew Neal couldn't handle the ball, his Bonner Boner, playing Blair at center for two gottdamn years, resigning RJ! Duncan's becoming more legendary as I type this !!!

On defense, Bonner's ceiling is so low that he has to crouch down to fit under it. It's not that he misses rotations or make dumb plays, it's that playing any better than he does is completely beyond him given his physical tools.

You rip guys apart for failing to do things they're supposed to, not for failing to do things they're incapable of.

Pop is a intelectually limited coach wich destroy the sel-esteem and intimidate his players. That military-alike "obey my strategy and shut up" doesn't work when you have talented players on the other side of the court. That's what happened in the Spurs-OKC series. Not only Splitter was lacking confidence, but almost the whole team. A good coach should know how to use psychology, not only barking like a cornered dog.

splitter sucks he plays like a pussy... and when he messes up just has that stupid smirk... away from these euro soft style pussy bigs.... we need some american muscle...

Now that's what I'm talking about. Enough with the soft Euro philosophy. Assuming the Spurs are not able to move up into the 1st round, there are a couple of potential young bigs that will be available in the second round.

    Henry Sims - Georgetown
    Robert Sacre - Gonzaga
    Jonas Bergstedt - Denmark
    Kyle O'Quinn - Norfolk St.
    Bernard James - Florida St.

As far as I'm concerned, any of these would be better options that another Euro. Lorbek can continue to incubate over in Europe, for all I care.

But at least he should hit the three! Neal almost gets a pass sometimes for his defense because his offensive game is top notch. Bonner stinks up the joint!

As I've said before, the problem with Bonner is that he's on the roster in the first place - and has been for 4 years longer than he should've been.

Spurs need a quality inside big man, Splitter is not that guy especially on defense or lack thereof.

I've been a Bonner apologist in the past on the theory that he's not a bad guy to have around as your 4th or 5th best big man. I'm officially done with that, and furthermore I apologize for having been so wrong.

Trade, amnesty, run over the guy with a bus. Whatever it takes to get him off the team.

He sucked hard from game 3 on.. One min and one blown rotation was enough for Pop to say

    "Sit the down"...

This if the Spurs had gotten beat playing what led them to 20 wins so be it but letting the other team totally dictate your game was inane.

I think splitter can be traded for the pacers for a first round pick. They need a backup center and we need a legit american big.

Well, I am getting old and I have pretty much seen it all. A couple of years ago I actually got comfortable with the fact that I probably would not be witnessing too many more miracles before my last breath.

Seeing someone actually admit he was wrong and apologizing here on Spurstalk - home of the experts- is a gift. Thanks.

    I can die happy now.

Splitter is much better than most of those muscle guys. He played well enough this season.

He could help a lot the team.He should be the starting center along Duncan but he's not going to play here big minutes while Pop is teh coach. Hope we trade him. He doesn't deserve this

It's a big mistake but Pop is Pop. He's not perfect but he's the coach.

The Spurs's FO has definitely some mental issues. The problem with the "infamous" Duncan-would-be-helper that never materialized is a big part of the reason why the Spurs haven't won anything since 2007. Each year, the problem, for some reason doesn't get addressed like it should be.

Face it is BS that Splitter did not play at least some minutes with Duncan resting and Manu on the court with him. To be fair he played more than Bonner I believe as impossible as that sounds. How can a team so change core lineups after winning 2 games in a series? Answer is on Pop alone.

The problem with Bonner is he took away minutes that could have been used to develop Splitter. Also it's not like Splitter forgot how to play since the Clippers series. It's Pop who went back to Bonner as third big and his other panic moves that messed things up.
