Can someone remind me as to why there was an 8/27 stipulation on this supposed trade?
    From OP on Hoops Hype:

I can also tell you that this trade will not go down till after 8/27 becuase of some type of clause in contract of another Rocket player involved.
I did some research on this thread: http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/show...47#post6075147

    Based on ESPN trade machine:

Shaun Livingston trade restriction ends Aug 27th? Same for Jon Brockman.

Royce White and Jeremy Lamb restriction ends Aug 26th, but I doubt Rockets trade them.

So some of the details from the post do line up... I guess we will have to wait and see.

I'd easily take a PF/C roster of: Timmy, Diaw, Splitter, Patterson, and Blatche? over Bonner/Blair.
Later on OP updated that the player involved was Livingston:

Closest trade to being agreed upon by all parties involves SA sending Gary Neal and an unguaranteed contract to HOU, Dejuan Blair and Matt Bonner go to Toronto, and Patrick Patterson & Shuan Livingston to SA. Issues with this trade center around draft picks and/or player rights.
He also mentioned a simpler trade that could happen:

Source says possibility of simpler trade being done which sends PAtterson to SA, Blair to TOR, Neal & unguarnteed to HOU along with some fillers (picks/rights to TOR and HOU)

We have no more unguaranteed contracts besides Neal and Blair, something that apparently is needed for this trade to happen.

I know Livingston is involved in the rumours, but he'd have to go to a 3rd team as Patty surely must have the backup PG role sewn up.

If you could only take one, who'd you rather gamble on, Patterson or Blatche?

The more I think about it, the more I feel like Pop and Tim could turn Blatche's head around and make him a real player. They did it for Jax, they can do it for Blatche. Then again, some guys are beyond saving.

OTOH, Patterson would be a very decent bench big, and although he's undersized, he does have explosive athleticism, something we sorely lack. He also has a very nice 15fter which would work well with Splitter who can then play exclusively inside.

Actually, I like either of those guys for the 5th big. Then, get someone to take Bonner's contract and bring in Tolliver as the stretch 4 and we'd have had an excellent offseason re-tooling on the fly once again!

Any chance this is revisited now that the preseason is almost over and none of our invites seemed to work out (except Curry)?

Either the trade completely fell through or the "source" had nothing better to do so he just made this up.

I don't think this needs revisiting.

No point in speculating on potential trades. Most of them never fall through.
