I noticed at the begining that they exchanged two wireless mics because they were not working properly. They ended using an "old fashioned" wired mic - so I guess they did have problems with the PA. The sound on the TV (webcast) was ok though.
As said earlier, the balloons were rigged to fall on the people(fans). I saw the dome on tv, and I thought it was pretty good.

the skinny white balloons were, but not at the end... the silver and black ones and confetti should've fallen on the stage...
It was awesome to just be there! Just imagine all the fans from elsewhere and overseas. I'll bet they would have taken the bad sound just to be there! Spurs Rock!!!!!! Horry has really embraced this city and displays his desire to exercise his option next year! Damn, this is sweet!![]()
Being there and feeling the vibe was cool and all but your right i couldn't understand a word they said
They do need to spend the money to get the celebration professionally produced. ...or at the very least do a competant sound check. Watched on FoxSW in Austin and the audio sounded like it was piped through a 15 year old burger king drive-thru speaker.
I could hear it fine at the Dome. Where were you sitting?
Is this a vent thread?
Why does everyone have to shout into the mike? Really, one hour of everyone shouting at you gets old.
Who was the fat nitwit at the beginning? Everyone else was easier to understand than he was.
Brent should have been the MC.
TP's rap made up for all of the above.
I saw it on TV BTW.
The only thing wrong with last night was Crazy Lou...someone should have yanked him off the stage and put him into the basement of the Alamodome
I agree. He was horrible.
And nearly the whole arena booing the mayor was pretty horrible too.
From where we were sitting (section 144) the sound was good though. I'm not sure where the people who couldn't hear were sitting.
We had pretty awesome seats for the event. The only bad part was when they had those city leaders and other unknown people speak at the beginning.
It was fun to watch and it was what it's supposed to be -- a celebration of a job well done. I can understand how some fans can be disappointed because nothing could ever top that AJ speech in '99.

If Barry does the introducing next time, it will be classic.
I think Barry didn't do it this year because he's new. Bowen is pretty much the "voice" of the Spurs team right now. He's not a jokester like Barry, but I see why they picked him to do it.
I thank the fans for going there and making the rally, and the River Parade, wonderful celebrations. A chance for the fans and players to express their mutual appreciation.
I was really hoping somebody on the Spurs side would credit the SBC crowd specifically for "6th Man Award for Game7", rather than just general "ya'll are great".
Too bad so many people weren't able hear. Being effectively deaf to many great words is very frustrating. It seems like the politicians and taxpayers don't want to maintain the AlamoDome to acceptable standards, or, maybe just the Championship Rally was done on the cheap.
The "people" part was well done exceptionally well, but I was expecting some dramatic, abundant special effects.
Pop did. And so did one of the other players.I was really hoping somebody on the Spurs side would credit the SBC crowd specifically for "6th Man Award for Game7",
Great! See, even listening/watching on WOAI, I couldn't distinguish any "6th Man" talk. I did hear several talking about the Game7 post-warmup, pre-game noise much appreciatd by the Spurs
Oh, well, it was a superb event.
same here.. from the comfort of my own home.
the only up I heard is when the silverdancers were dancing they were playing two songs at the same time... props to them for keeping step.
I laughed out loud when the Coyote dancing in perfect sync with the SD's.
A least somebody was prepared! Very professional effort. !!![]()
The coyote rocked... riding in on a harley, with the suit on... that was sweet.
Who were those two fans holding up the Slovenian flag?![]()
Yeah, the crowd booing the new mayor was pretty incomfortable. But I have to say that's the first time I've ever heard him speak. Was that a cartoon voice or his real voice?
it was a shame to hear the crowd booing our new mayor. i know everyone is there for the Spurs and not any damn politicians, but jeez, have a little class.
"The sound" has always sucked at the Alamodome. That is one reason they quit having concerts there (it was the primary reason George Straight stopped having his annual show there). The only two musical acts I have ever seen there that the sound was decent were Garth Brooks and Elton John; both have the money for the sound equipment to carry shows in that kind of building. I have never seen any other event there where the sound was good.
The balloons were not supposed to "hit the stage". The baloons were for the fans, not the Spurs. Didn't you see everyone in the audience waving them wildly?
Yeah, it looked like somebody forgot about the AC or something.
At least the draft didn't knock Manu off the stage.![]()
They aren't talking about those long balloons. They are talking about the round balloons at the very end. They were supposed to hit the stage, but the AC blew them way to the right. The balloons were not supposed to "hit the stage". The baloons were for the fans, not the Spurs.
