The only person Johnson could really steal the election from is Romney. Meanwhile, there's that green party woman who's name I can't remember (shows how relevant she is) as the only 3rd party candidate who could steal votes from Obama. The greater majority of Gary Johnson voters will be Ron Paul supporters who felt disenfranchised by Mitt Romney at the RNC.
    Jill Stein i think

A vote for Gary Johnson or Jill Scott is really just a vote towards increasing the Libertarian/Green parties' viability in future elections. I'm much less concerned with the individual candidate as I am the possibility of increasing the diversity of voices and points of view in future races.

Those parties have no viability now or in the future but if self delusion is your thing have fun with it.

If a party's profile raises enough, parts of its platform will be co-opted by one of the major parties. Not perfect, but not entirely pointless.

Not at all. The 1%/VWRC have been in this suck-the-99%-dry mode for 35 years. They will certainly continue to use C-U, all the other JINO SCOTUS, other JINO-packed federal judgeships and legislators to continue their anti-Human-American strategy. They are relentless, unstoppable, and are have won the class war on the 99%.
I don't know. Outside money favors Romney 2:1. If O wins the election he pretty much confirms $ is nothing more than free speech but has marginal influence on elections.

    "has marginal influence on elections"

"studies have shown" that the candidate who spends the most wins 90% of the time. That could just be a correlation between Ms of small donors of course voting the way they donate, but that was pre-C-U.

With C-U, we see a few very wealthy donors, plus Wall St and BigCarbon, making up the bulk of Gecko's donations that exceed Barry's dependence on small donations from Human-Americans.

When the first debate swayed the teevee watching sheeppe and gave Gecko so much momentum, I'm convinced that Ms of Gecko attack ads can also sway the sheeple. iow, $$$ always do and will count.

Third parties certainly can't become viable if people keep this closed-minded at ude, tbh....

voters don't count (except if one of these 3rd parties can Nader an election again), so voters minds don't matter. It's the 1%, UCA, Wall St that run the country, whose vote$$$ count, no matter who is elected, even one of these 3rd party dreamers makes it to the WH, they won't have enough Congressional votes behind them to do anything.

That's a little harsh. All I'm saying is it's nice to have more people involved in the debates and high level political conversation. Do you disagree?

It's an amazing phenomenon, I've seen hardcore Obama-loathing Republicans and hardcore Republican-hating Democrats alike act like even though the other major party candidate is probably the most disastrous candidate and de able person in human history, you're still better off voting for him than an alternative candidate.

I live in a state that whose electoral votes are going to be won by Romney. I don't like either candidate and I don't believe that a two-party duopoly controlling the national political conversation is good for the country. So what would be the point of me voting for Obama or Romney? Talk about a wasted vote.

All a third party needs is 5% of the popular vote to be guaranteed a credible voice in the next election. Even though they still have no chance at actually WINNING anytime soon, it brings alternative points of view to the discussion, and at least opens up the possibility of a stronger third party someday.
