The only time I'm ever in Jackson is when I'm driving home. My mom worked at a hospital in Jackson for a while and never stopped at a redlight without having her hand on the ruger under her seat.
I'm not a fan of Baton Rouge. I hear Oxford is nice, but I hated Jackson and didn't care for Hattiesburg (lol USM). I prefer the coast even though it isn't the same since the hurricane. Still love Mobile.

No doubt. I lived in Jackson for a year and it sucked. The outer areas like Madison and Ridgeland are nice, but Jackson itself is terrible. Baton Rouge isn't any more attractive for me, especially with how crowded it is now. Other than LSU and the mall of Louisiana, not much else there. Lafayette is nicer. I still miss the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the Mobile area, but Lake Charles is ok if your married and starting a family. Plus its on between Houston and New Orleans and only a few hours from Dallas.
I've never been to Oxford, but I hear it's really nice. I've always wanted to go to a Ole Miss game. Hopefully one day.
Lafayette is a pretty nice place. Their mall is pretty badass and a lot less trashy overall than BR.
