    Padding. The flow of the game was tending toward Kobe having a quiet night offensively. Rather than retreat to the bench with the other starters when the Lakers were up 13 and get his injured foot some rest, he saw the potential for some easy points when the Pistons' scrubs checked in.

    Kobe would be out there down 50 with 3 minutes left in the 4th. The got is literally that obsessed with his statline. He easily has the most meaningless 30 point games in NBA history.

    TBH, Kobe's efficiency is at a whole new level now that they took the ball out of his hands. I can't say with a straight face that it will last, but he was shooting lights out in the preseason, and over 60% coming in. For years I've been waiting for someone to take the facilitating duties from him. Here's hoping his efficiency lasts.
