HOF coaching strategy.
I think Matt fell out of the rotation due to performance and Jack's contributions at the 4. The Spurs were playing quite a bit of small ball. Stephen was sliding over there and contributing well. Small ball helped them win in some games (ex. Portland). Matt made zero (0) shots in the pre-season and his contributions were negligible.. 'Not exactly what he needed to keep him top-of-mind with Pop.
Jack is hurt. The reserves must fill in while he's out.

Except he did it in the 2007 season too.
The problem was that the Spurs essentially gutted their big rotation until Bonbon was the only other guy apart from Duncan who wasn't an ancient s (e.g. Horry retired, Oberto left, and they were the rotation guys in the 07 campaign), and since Bonbon "spaces the floor" whilst the Spurs had difficulty netting a big man (Ibaka was gone by the time the Spurs were on the clock, the Spurs had no 2009 first rounder (though getting Blair to fall into their lap was pretty good luck), and the 2010 draft only had three good bigs and they all went in the lottery) he got a rotation spot.
With Splitter showing flashes of being really good and being a good backup center, alongside Diaw's versatility and Blair being in a contract year it's easy to see why Bonner has returned to his role as fifth big/human victory cigar/desperation player.
got this clown in to replace horry...
he could do everything horry does, but not very efficient let alone effective at it....
on defense alone we know he can take charges, his pretty crap at everything else...rebound/defending man to man or help defense, slow ass horse galloping up and down in transition
shooting his as good as horry, but he doesnt put them into the basket when we need it in april, dude cant shoot with a hand in his face, let alone very hesitant to pull the trigger....
FO has been trying to get all these players in to replicate the production and playstyle of the championship teams from 05-07.....
Decent amount of hate in this thread for a guy leading the NBA in 3 point %....
....again.
he will never live up to what we expect of him to come in here replicate the replaced players aka horry, barry, beno or whoever
he is who he is, i think he has improved his game ever since he came to the spurs defensively...but its still not up to the level we want from him, and especially being able to contribute in the playoffs where it really counts.....
