Mavs: Derek Fisher to sign with the Mavs

Well Troy Murphy is getting cut to make room for the sick daughter exploitation artist, so there's a silver lining.

This isn't really a bad signing if you think about it. If you had your hopes that the Mavs were going to do anything more than get promptly escorted out of the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed in the first round, this year is already a lost cause. I don't know that Dirk coming back gets them the 7 or 8 seed. It's probably better to miss the playoffs, get a lottery pick and use the cap space to sign a star. This signing is more about salvaging the Collison trade. Whatever else you may say about how little game Fisher has left, the dude is a professional. I'm guessing they're hoping his practice and preparation habits will rub off on DC.

Solid move here. Dominique Jones and Roddy suck big fat rhinoceros so it's a very good upgrade. Collison and Fish is a solid PG rotation..... now we get Dirty back and go to work
