overeact? this guy has been garbage since the wcf, scrub doesnt belong in the nba
I'll cut them some slack. It's easy to say Nando/Mills are outperforming Green/Neal because Green and Neal are playing a lot of minutes. They both look tired.
But per usual, posters overreact.

overrated hacks, overrated team
enjoy ur regular season championship, fodder playoff exit
I don't think he is overreacting. It's logic. Play the guys who have the hot hand and who are making plays. Sit the guys who are struggling. Minutes for bench players are almost like a reward, you earn them.
Green's got to make up for it when he's struggling on offense by doing more on defense.
Out of the rotation like Blair? No.
But I do agree that Green and Neal in particular are playing too much. Diminishing returns and all that. That'll probably sort itself out once Kawhi gets back.
I agree with the OP 100%. I just touched on this in timvp's Denver grades thread but basically to sum it up someone the caliber of Danny Green does not belong in the starting line up of a team with championship aspirations. If he's your starting 2 then you know you're in bad shape. He might be a decent bench player but on a team as strong as the Spurs even that is pushing it a little. The guy is nothing more than a streaky-as- spot-up 3-point shooter. He can't create his own shot, can't shoot off the dribble, his layups and floaters are ugly to watch, and his defense is just as streaky as his shot.
I have similar feelings about Neal and feel strongly his abilities as a shooter are overrated since it seems he goes Westbrick more often than not. Yeah he can hit a clutch shot but it's extremely inconsistent. I still like him better than Green though since he's at least able to create his own shot and is generally a better scorer.
Just wait until the annual december meltdown loss , usually at home to the Pelicans/Bobcats or similar![]()
Your an idiot. Neal has straight up WON some games for us this year. He is not the problem, Green on the other hand is just on a cold streak. Lets rememer that is December before we start trading away valuable role players.
Neal makes everybody else worse, he is averaging 8,4 points(31% FG, 36% 3pt) in the last 5 games.
Green is averaging 7,4 points(34% FG, 29% 3pt)in the last 5 games, and both are playing horrible on the defensive end too. If u can't see it, you are blind
Im not blind. In the last 5 games who has made anyone better besides the big 3? Lets be honest now...
All im saying is so far in this season I don't look at Gary Neal as the problem, he is instant offense and when he is being used properly in his role I don't think he makes anyone worse.
Sorry for calling you an idiot. Im at work right now and im angry at the world. There was no need to say that. Haha
Dude. Gary Neal is paid the league minimum. He's a key shooter for our team, even if he is off. He needs to keep shooting and keep playing. He's not Tony Parker or Tim Duncan. He's a role player.
Green, basically the same thing.
People forget that these guys have probably won more games for us this year than lost.
You can't trade anybody right now. Not until the team is healthy and guys are playing their intended roles. If green proves he can't play defense on opposing guards, rebound well, or shoot the three then he should be benched or put on the block. But you can't blame the guy for not being able to cover 6'10 Gallinari or going through a shooting slump. It is a tough schedule right now. Only if the team is at full strength and losing do I think you can seriously consider a trade of one of our key guys.
So if u are a cheap role player u can f#ck with your team chances?
^ What he said! Spurs fans can get nutty with the game to game ups and downs.
Neal has hit a lot of big shots this season, gtfo of here with this crap
Yeah Neal has hit shots and Green has hit shots that were important but the point is how many shots did it take for them to get that big basket? Green and Neal will build you a brick house before one of their shots fall. Doesn't exactly sound like "instant offense" if you ask me. Especially with Neal he's just an instant chucker.
I agree, but these clowns have been bashing Green when Manu & Neal's shooting has been horrid at times, even though is the only being asked to consistently defend out of his position.
The spurs have befitted heavily from his shooting in the past last season he shot 43% from beyond the ark (almost 10% better than the league average). He's had to defend bigger,& stronger players as opposed to quick point guards and athletic 2 guards.
Checking Paul Pierce (twice) Paul George (who is unofficially 6'10) Kevin Durant & Rudy Gay. Just keeping these guys from manhandling takes is taxing to say the least. His shooting will improve. Remember last seasons RRT he didn't hit a shot in the first 4 or 5 games (well over 100 minutes) and he still proved very effective.
Very true but he's played more minutes and has had a sharp dropoff from his career 3pt%. When he's back coming off the bench, he should return to classic neal.
Great signature picture, something tells me we have similar tastes.![]()
Turnovers have been a bigger problem than these two and coupled with Injuries to Sjax & Kawhi, Manu's inconsistencies and rebounding woes.
Your logic is ridiculous. They are role player that have been extremely effective Neal is career 45%FG, 41%3pt 9 ppg shooter ,who in three seasons has made a piggy-bank breaking, 2.7 million. If the screen isn't dripping with sarcasm please call the geek squad immediately. Based on their contracts they've played very well, their impact on losing games is minimal.
The Spurs are averaging almost 3 turnovers more per game and are offense looks defective at times ,like we're playing pre-season ball. These are catch and shoot players with little opportunities to turnover the ball considering their job is to take jumpers.
Green made his lone 3 during during a spurs run and with Captain in foul trouble he was needed to board and defend. He plays hard every-night, You didn't think he sabotaged the Spurs chances when he swished a contest 3 over Kobe for the win in Staple Center.
At this point Green has been possibly more impact for than Manu, who's shooting continues to be horrid. He eats up minutes and plays good defense in those minutes. Without Green our record right now would be know-where as pretty as 19-7.
Neal has struggled, I can't defend his defense but his scoring has been key in two games we would have almost certainly lost (@Portland & @ Houston) He's is still more effective, than say Mike Miller who is making 5.4 million (this year) and producing not nearly as much a Neal this season.
Looking at the last 5 games is molding stats to fill out your opinions what about the other 21 games?
It seems unrealistic to expect a consistent A+ performance from role players. Especially when role players are playing outside their role.
