With 7 reserves making it in, Tony and Tim should both be there.

Duncan and Parker should be a lock for the reserves. Duncan should be starting -- he's been the best bigman in the entire NBA so far -- and the only PG who has a legit claim to being better than Parker is CP3, so this should be a year where it's a no-brainer that those two get in.

    Agreed.

I think it plays out like this:
    Guards: Westbrook, Harden
    Forwards: Randolph, Love
    Center: Duncan
    WC: Parker, Curry

But I also may be off.
Love's injured. I wouldn't be surprised if they (Stern) twist some arms to put Lin in as a reserve along with Harden since the game is in Houston.
If not, you can bet any late West injury replacement will definitely be Lin, since it will be the Commissioner's choice.

Curry may be out a while too. I expect Lee will replace one of them.

Don't worry -- in a face saving move, it will be anounced that Howard is hurt and TD will start.

Agreed X INFINITY!!!! Howard? REALLY? Let me guess, Garnett and Dwight will head the list of DPOY with Duncan in 4th or 5th, a disgrace!

Someone should research whether there has ever been a losing team (Lakers) with two All Star starters before. That's 40% of the conference starters on a sub-500 team. It simply can't be credible.

Why should we care about a popularity contest?

It's the All-NBA teams that have more credence.

For the west backups, I see 8 players for 7 spots:
Parker, Westbrook, Curry, Harden, Duncan, Randolph, Lee and Aldridge.

I'm not sure who should not make it in this list but it shouldn't be Duncan or Parker.

Well, I think Curry's health will be the deciding factor.

I am going to have to go with this. It's only a half season when its held too, its coming down the stretch where regular season excellence is found.

and yeah regular season excellence- the Matt Bonner Award.

    +1

Howard being voted a starter is blasphemy.
2 starters from the 17-22 (43%) Lakers. Pfft.

    What a joke.

Tim Duncan leads all power forwards in player efficiency rating at 24.46. If you classify Duncan as a center, he ranks second in the NBA in PER.
Griffin ranks third. D-12 ranks 26th.
    Both behind Duncan.
Furthermore, Duncan is averaging 17.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.8 blocks per game. He's doing so in just 30.1 minutes of play.
In fact, Duncan is the only player in the NBA to average at least 17.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks.
He's also the only player to average at least 15.0 points, 9.0 boards, 2.0 dimes and 2.0 blocks.
We can keep going, if you'd like. If not, then you already get the picture.
Tim Duncan should be starting in the All-Star Game.

    Bleacher Report-

    MAXWELL OGDEN

Everyone knows TD should be starting.

The harsh reality is that he was never going to beat Howard, Durant, or Griffin in the popularity vote.

Duncan is at least a lock to be a reserve.

Four starters from two teams whose combined record is under .500. Nice.
