one of the huge reasons why Steve Nash reportedly cried when his Suns FINALLY got past the Spurs in the playoffs

Weird how I knew exactly what you were talking about when I read the OP. That was a uva game man, as far as RS games go it's the most memorable one that I can think of

Same here.... The amount of ass hurt Suns fans to this day still makes me laugh. Native New Yorker refused to let me in the following week because I was wearing a Duncan Jersey
Lol, later that season, Pop pulled one of his first tank jobs when the Spurs returned to Phx, as both TD and Manu sat out after playing the night before at home I believe. That of course, was the infamous Sarver "chicken" game.

I must admit, I also attended this game, and when I noticed TD and Manu were sitting out, I was initially upset. But as the game wore on, and the Spurs almost pulled it off, I realized Pop's genius.

I have that game taped and watch it for a pick me up. I also have the game that they played next Sac Kings. Also, a great game. Manu and Tim were amazing in both games.

I always felt sorry for the Suns! It was like beating up on your little brother. They'd try with all their might, but still lose!!

    It's like, "I think I can, I think I can......" No I can't!!!

in a spurs jersey he bailed tp so many times everytime the spurs played the suns...

was this the game pop cleared the bench and got us back into the game after a 20pt deficit?
    17, but yes.

Yes, 2005 was Tony's worst season as a Spur (maybe other than his rookie year) partly due to foot problems. Brent and Beno were pretty damn good replacements, though (although Beno's defense left much to be desired).

IMO, the defining games of the 2005 regular season were these two back-to-back games:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=250409012
    http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?id=250410009

    1. Ginobili might have been even better since he wasn't going against the Suns "defense"
    2. It got Parker going.
    3. It cemented Mohammed as the starting center.
    4. Horry started trying and found he had more in the tank.
    5. Getting those wins without TD was huge to gain momentum with the playoffs around the corner.

Agreed those two B2B OT wins were a huge part of a giddily fantastic season, that ended well. Tony "got going" definitely, unquestionably as able to be team leader.

ESPN showed that game here in Brazil. I still have on my old VCR

Manu was fantastic but I still prefer Manu game 5 performance against the Sonics that same season

I was also at that Warriors game. 2nd greatest NBA game I've been to in person! Lol.
I agree these two games were humongous, but one cannot underestimate the psychological toll we put on the Suns in our regular season games with them:
Game 1: We absolutely obliterated them in SA after they had gotten off to such a great start to begin the season.
Game 2: The epic game detailed in this thread. Suns blow 17 pt 4th qtr lead.
Game 3: Pop plays mind games with DAntoni (and consequently Sarver) by resting TD and Manu, and Spurs still almost pull it out.

Amare drives, gets fouled (doesn't make the shot), does pushups (why? it still doesn't make sense), then bricks both free throws...on the way to losing the game. What a got. That was the day I lost respect for Amare.

Oh, and Walton's comment that "he's going to change basketball"...not so much.

I still have this game recorded. It was a badass win and pretty much foreshadowed how bad the Spurs would own the Suns through 2009.

    Amare's pushups

LOL @ Sean Marks getting so little burn in his NBA career that there's no link with his name in the box scores.
OMFG Tony Massenburg making solid contributions!

Yes but at 22 when he was putting up those pts I bet most thought it! Thing is he never played D after that nor grew in his game much so that never came into fruition!
