Should we get overtaken by the Thunder, wonder how the meltdown will be?

Now that the defense has improved and Pop goes with Duncan - Splitter, I wouldn't write off the Spurs for the playoffs. The RS record is important too, because the Spurs have lost some swagger, it will be impossible to emerge from the west without the HCA.

I feel about the same as I did last season. Except the improvement of Splitter and Timmy hehe. Hope Tim's knee is fine for the stretch run

I like the team, but we still need a little more for a le. I am curious if Baynes will even get any burn this year.

So much for needing Blair/Bonner to win 60 games. We can win 60 games with Splitter/Diaw and have better defense.

Love this team. We're spoiled by their success and take it for granted. I think it won't be until we're losing 60 games per season in a couple years that we'll really understand and br grateful for what we had.

With that said, we're still one player away from competing with OKC in the West imo. I'm really hoping we can get someone in here, but I doubt it. I think OKc would beat us in 6 or 7 as of right now.

Why so fearful of OKC? They don't have Harden remember.

I say stay the course. This Spurs team has every bit of a chance to get through the West, especially if they get the 1st seed letting LA/OKC beat up each other in round 2.

There's just too much harmony on the roster with 13 guys that played in last year's playoff run. I am confident the 2nd time around they will be even more hungry to finish the job they were just 2 games short of accomplishing.

36-11. On track. Stay the course. A Thousand points of light. Stay the course.

Well, since last season we've only lost James Anderson and added Nando De Colo and now Aron Baynes. So thats essentially a wash.

But the Thunder have traded Harden. I think we're doing fine in that category.

And yes, we're a year older. But we also have another year that we've gelled together. Very important when you consider guys like Stephen Jackson and Boris Diaw that play big roles for us, but had only been around for a handful of games last year when the playoffs came.

No, I like our chances as much as I've ever liked them this year. We're really good.

Getting the first seed would be a bitter reward if it means facing Lakers in the first round.

In a perfect world, Spurs would finish 1st, Thunder/Clippers 2nd/3rd and Lakers would either be the 6th/7th seed or miss the playoffs. Spurs would have a nice playoffs bracket with these seedings.

Spurs are looking much more legit to me than last year e ally with Tiago starting and coming into his own along with the imporved D, I think if we meet OKC again we will have a better chance against them this go around.

I hope we get LAL in the first round and punish them. I'm tired of looking at standings/schedules and hoping for easier brackets. We're probably going to have to go through OKC and Miami anyway so lets at least make the le run as vindictive as possible. Lets beat the Lakers, get revenge on the Grizz and OKC, and take out the NBA's #1 bandwagon destination

You've also got to factor in the new and improved Tiago, now getting big minutes, as well as Tim's further improvement from last season (assuming this knee doesn't become a season killer)

Hollinger predicts 61-21 (between 70 and 47 wins in 5000 mock completions of the season). 48.4% of #1 seed, 31.8% finals, 23.8% champs.

    regular season champions, playoff fodder

cant wait to see the arguments come up in duncan conversations where they will say HCA 3 straight seasons and losing....
Yup that can bring the argument about Tim not being the guy who takes advantages from the better positions.

Tim is rather a playoff guy but losing in that fashion will add some dirt into his resume

To me, this would have a lot more merit if it happened in Tim's prime when everything still ran through him. Kobe, OTOH, missed the playoffs twice in his prime as the main option. Even Hakeem Olajuwon missed the playoffs in his prime.

    You guys are welcome

All jokes aside ...duncan has been amazing. And Pop is the best coach in the biz. I have predicted at least on more WCF or Finals run for Tim. We will see if that was last year or this one ...

Doubt you guys can beat Lebron and OKC wont be easy either. But I would take SPurs over CLips (I woud root for CLips since they are in LA but doubt VDN can beat Pop) or anyone else in the West or East.

I do hope my Lakers can squeak in the playoffs win or lose I think we would at least get a good first round series. I doubt any of the other potential 8th seeds could even "scare" the Spurs.

Plus the Pop hack a Dwight would be hilarious ...

In a related story, though they now hold a significant lead in the division and tiebreakers could ultimately prove to be academic, the Spurs magic number to hold the tiebreaker over everyone else in the Southwest Division is 1.

Either 1 Spurs win or 1 Grizzlies loss in a divisional game will give the Spurs the second tiebreaker (division record) over the Grizzlies. The Spurs have 2 division losses with 3 games to go and can finish with no more than 5 divisional losses. The Grizzlies have 5 divisional losses as of this morning, after their loss to the Hornets last night. If Memphis loses once more (6 losses) or if the Spurs win once more (limiting their highest number of possible losses at 4) in the division, the Spurs will functionally add a full game to their divisional lead.

So now, a 10-day stretch in which the Spurs only play two games ....at home ....against Charlotte (NBA worst) and Washington (NBA 2nd worst).
