they were killed easy, but you get a big group of them and they were big fun taking out towers and such

Remember all the C&C series well -- interesting plots and music on top of good game-play will do that, I guess.

I was always into TBS more than RTS games, though -- Alpha Centauri, Jagged Alliance, Age of Wonders, Heroes of Might and Magic 3...

Great game, but yea, you waste a whole day playing AOE.
