It really puzzles me that lots of the national media is picking the jags to be a playoff contender and not the Texans. The Texans swept the Jags last year...and i believe Houston Shut them out in Jax as well. The Colts are clearly the class of the division but the Texans will surprise the league.

I dont think some people realize that the Texans were 7-9 last year. They were in playoff contention till the final two weeks of the season. I think Carr has done a good job. If anyone had the horrible O-line he has had to deal with their stats would be comparable. The Texans went to a new blocking scheme last season and it took them half the year to start gelling...Davis then started to hold on to the football and became an effective back. I truely feel that if the Defense can step up this year..they gave up way to many 3rd down conversions last year, the Texans will make the playoffs!

I've seen Carr bring them back a couple of times from the dead, and yeah its with a swiss cheese Offensive line that usually lets Carr be sacked or rushed all the time. I think if the Texans shored up the line solidly, got a stud RB back there then they'd win alot of games!
Houston should come close this season, they've come real far from that opening night vs. Dallas when they began their history to now. Look at the Cleveland Browns they're still a pathetic franchise since being in the NFL again in 1999, clearly going the other direction.

IMO Dominick Davis IS that stud running back, but like you said, they NEED quality offensive lineman.

Its been so long since any NFL player movement has been made, did the Texans go after any offensive lineman??

If Kyle Turley is available, hed be worth a flier.

Tell us something we didn't know. I just hope Joey Harrington isn't as terrible...if only cause he looks like the kid from Orange County....haha.

I think Carr set his sights too low. When he broke into the league, all he wanted to do was beat the Cowboys. He did that but little else. Not much of a leader.

Which means you could see Maurice Clarett sometime this season.
    That was dumb by me

Carr may be a serviceable quarterback someday.

    But not for the Texans.

He's spent four years running for his life on every snap, and will never regain the confidence he needs to be successful in that system.

It's true that he's not much of a leader. He lets dumb like his hairdo become a distraction and shows his own discouragement on the field.

Not that I blame him for it all. Chris Palmer, who does not belong in the NFL, never even prioritized pass protection in his offensive scheme. I swear I am not making this up. His scheme has a lot of seven-step drops together with minimal pass protection. Children playing Pee Wee football understand the problem with this. Carr had to point the problem out to him and Dom Capers in the offseason. Palmer still hasn't figured it out. Capers patted himself on the back for writing down the meeting with Carr in his planner and showing up exactly 90 seconds early.

Maybe Brian Billick could do something with Carr.

But not the Texans. Casserly is a second-rate football guy who hired third-rate people, all of whom will be gone soon. The combination of poor drafting, poor free-agent choices, inept coaching, lackluster motivation, and mediocre effort has made the Texans the laughingstock of the NFL.

Bob McNair didn't pay $800 million to be laughed at by the Cardinals.

Carr has improved every year. He just needs some weapons. If he was in Detroit he would be 10x better then Joey Harrington.

If the Cowboys had Carr instead of Carter, they would have made the playoffs IN SPITE of Jerry Jones and his head coach of the week Dan Campo.

I highly doubt it. The Lions OL has been just as bad as Houston's the last few years ands they had the worst rushing game in the NFL two years ago.
