You should heed your own advice on posting 'drivel' too, but I don't see you shutting up anytime soon.

Other than being anglo, what makes him "soft"?
Hey, he might be soft, but he has that "high basketball IQ" working in his favor.

Personally, Mike Dunleavy ranks in my top 15% of possible off-season acquisitions.

He fits nicely with the Noah's ark roster philosophy. Seriously.

    and sincerely, Brent Barry.

Yeah the difference there is if you put together Dunleavy's last two seasons, you still don't hit Sean's peak years of PPG.

And call me when Dunleavy ever sniffs an All-Star game without having to pay for his ticket (or getting one through his agent).

Do I need to read more?

Who in their right mind expects all-star numbers from, say, a Dunleavy?

Dunleavy? Whats the difference between him and Hedo at this point? Both offer the same skillset and productivity stat wise. I guess Dunleavy does have some upside left to discover, but so far he has not played any better than Hedo.

To be fair, Dunleavy isn't yet in his prime.

Have you guys even watched Dunleavy? He's actually pretty fiery.
i assume you say this based on the one game he got ejected from and tossed his jersey into the crowd. that doesn't make him any less soft.

he's 6'9" and does nothing but shoot jumpshots. that equals soft.

he had a great opportunity to step up and play big in golden state and he hasn't done . especially this year w/o arenas, dunleavy and richardson were supposed to be the main guys. instead, dunleavy consistently showed he's not anything special. he's been able to put up decent stats b/c he's a starter and plays on a really ty team. as a role/bench player, he's gonna be even more ineffective. like i said before, he doesn't do anything particularly well. he's mediocre (at best) in every facet of the game.

spurs need to stay away from this dud. i live in the bay area, ask any warrior fan, they're not eager to see him back either.

I don't see Dunleavy as a dud, but as a good third or fourth option on a team. He doesn't fulfill the Spurs' structure of having their SF be the perimeter defensive stopper in any way, shape, or form. He's a bomber but designated shooters can be had cheaper.

I think the Spurs should go after every 2nd generation NBA player in the league, just for fun.

Except for anyone with the last name of Walton, that is.

Wait who knows maybe if we get his son, Bill Walton will actually start to say the Spurs will win every game. Man he jumped on the bandwagon real quicker than TPark after game 7.

Blue Devils are the best NCAA team to ever make its presence on a college court.

Dunleavy would be a great fit in SA. As pointed out in the thread, he's not the greatest defender so the Spurs would have to move away from their current starting lineup structure with the 3 man filling the perimeter stopper role. I don't think that's a major deal (losing Bruce will be, however). Perhaps the Spurs can groom someone into that role (LJ3?).

Also, this thread provides a great reason why AHF needs to hang up the handle.

Above average shooter, but probably doesn't have the defensive skills (slow-footed) needed for the Spurs schemes. Besides, his price tag is likely to be too high.

Anyone can force their man into the shotblockers or baseline. He's got enough length to be effective in a team defense.

Well, I guess we said the same thing about Big Dog and that turned out OK. I'm still concerned that his price would be too high for the Spurs budget. i iwould imagine some "junk" team would come along and offer him a boat load of cash.

Who's to say the Warriors won't reup him anyway?

Warriors have a bunch of swingmen. Plus Mullin is not as good of a GM as he was a player.

    Mike Dunleavy | 34
    Position: F
    Born: Sep 15, 1980
    Height: 6-9 / 2,06
    Weight: 230 lbs. / 104,3 kg.
    College : Duke '03

    Info

He'd be a great fit at the 3 long term for the Spurs. Good size, court vision, handles, shot, rebounding, is coachable, etc...

Golden State's another franchise with a front office that doesn't seem to have a grasp of what they are trying to accomplish. They have a number of swingman and perhaps are ready to move one. Dunleavy's rookie contract ends after next season so perhaps they'll look to move him now before his payday.
He's from Duke. We do not need alums of the NCAA's premier cheating factory to come to SA and ruin our team.

Hey hey hey lets not hate on Duke now, just because they dominate the NCAA every year. Plus you must not forget we have had the first two duke players to win a championship in the NBA with Steve Smith and Danny Ferry.

I just don't see GS wanting to trade him for what we may offer. If they are overloaded anywhere it's at the 4 and 5 spots. Their swing rotation looks pretty stable.

    Dunleavy
    Richardson
    Pietrus
    Chaney
