almost every playoff team will be a mismatch for him
Clippers and Denver in the 2nd round will be again
Memphis he played well but he didnt D Prince that good
he lets Kobe get under his skin which wont be good for the first round
or Houston which is too fast paced for him
he plays Durant physically but hes also foul prone vs him

PER only counts defensive stats like steals and blocks. Jackson's defense is whats keeping him in the rotation

Jax will be fine... if he turns into '08 Horry, so be it... but after last season's WCF performance, he earned the benefit of the doubt, tbh

Harlem and TD21 win in this thread. Jackson is done.

I'm sure he has a few playoff 3 point conversions left, but that is going to come with overall inefficient and poor play.

If nothing else, RJ gave us a consistent 42 (and ultimately 44%) from three during his last 2 seasons. His defense on larger SFs was subpar. His playmaking and passing were comparable to what Stephen Jackson has provided this year.

Sure, RJ can't compare with nebulous intangibles like "grit" and "toughness," but it all boils down to whether or not Stephen Jackson's superior man-to-man defense on larger SFs is sufficient to compensate for his relatively poor offensive output. My eye test says no, but I don't know.

I think they're both (R.J. and SJax) pretty poor contributors overall, with the exception of SJax's performance during last year's WCF.

Stephen Jackson's best game in quite a while was against Memphis a couple of nights ago where he had a couple of assists/rebounds in the first half and knocked down a couple of shots in the second. This is atypical, though. He's averaging 1.4 APG this year and is not nearly the superior "playmaker" (compared to RJ) that some make him out to be.

I think too many here are counting their eggs before they hatch w/ jax playoffs( this year)...I know he's had some clutch performances, but that was the jack of old...now this jack is just... .. old!! He's having a hard time out there and a lot of his shots, driving to the hoop, have no business going in...will be interesting ..I hope he has one last ride in him.

He'll be resigned for cheap unless he decides to hang it up. That's how the Spurs organization operates.

Then why not freeze him and just thaw him out when the playoffs arrive. Why let him continue to embarrass himself on a nightly basis?

this thread is a prime example of the ton of respect Harlem gets

take another ST dude creating this same thread he would have received a couple of posts with "re , , , not sure if serious, 1/10 etc..." instead we have a civilized conversation

Please read my post and you'll see I said "aside from last year..."

Apart from the time he carried an 8th seed to upset the first seed perhaps?
Eh, even in the 2006-2007 playoffs, despite scoring nearly 20 PPG, he only shot 38% from the floor. It's not as if he was tearing it up for the Warriors.

More reliable than a Danny Green imo who is guaranteed to leave 4pts per game in layups on the table and who will go cold for a while at some point.

Actually I always said that De Colo should play SG in a Manu like role and both Green and Sjax should be in compe ion for backup SF.

More reliable than Danny Green? I think not. Stephen Jackson's the only player that Pop seems to give a lifeline to, even after a string of games where Jacks is non-existent on the court. Why do we keep using the "He'll turn it around come playoff time" excuse for when Jackson plays poorly. If he's gonna' play well in the playoffs only, then sit him until playoff time.

Jack is still living on the reputation of a guy that delivers in the playoffs, especially here in ST.

Let's see if he really improves his game when it matters, because he has been absolutely atrocious this season. If he doesn't play well in the playoffs this season, he will struggle to make a team for the min next season.
