Pop is still better imo. And I don't get the hate on Doc tbh, he did all he could do with that ty washed up roster who was missing their best player tbh.

Sorry, but I have to disagree here, especially with the basis of your agrument being "every coach has his flaws", when Thibs has huge, gaping flaws that are more dramatic than almost any other big flaw other coaches have.

Thibs' playbook isn't even a book, it's a pamphlet. Most of the time it seems like the guy has no offensive plans at all. It's like when he calls a timeout for a play, he just says, "I don't know, it. Do whatever you want on offense, but play D the way I'm telling you to".

The Bulls are my 2nd favorite team too, so I'm not ting on a random guy here. I have seen over 100 Bulls games since Thibs became coach, and I can safely say has next to zero ap ude for offense. He is the defensive version of Mike D'Antoni. Let's also not neglect to mention how he rides his best guys into the ground. . .it's not shocking to me that every single one of his best players end up hurt every year.

Wouldn't be surprised. He's the worst MVP winner in recent memory(might have to go back a few decades to find someone tier)
I would say since Iverson. Sure he scored a lot this season, but the Sixers as a whole were successful because they had a very good system around Iverson that allowed him to showcase his strengths and make up for his weaknesses as a player and a leader.

Larry Brown as a top defensive coach (he coached the freaking Bobcats to the best D in the league, tbh).
    Dikembe Mutombo was DPOY.
Aaron McKie was Sixth Man of the Year.

His team was stacked. He just got all the shots, and the media loves points (and back then advanced stats weren't in vogue). The East sucked that year, and they needed a 47 win Toronto team to miss a game winning 3 in Game 7 to advance...

Pop is the best inbounds play caller in the league, no doubt about that, tbh..

His rotations were terrible last night, though..as was his defensive game plan, tbh..we'll see how he adjusts..

While Thibodeau overplays his guys, Pop coddles his guys too much, tbh..

Either way, they are easily the 2 best coaches in the league..

Coaching tiers in the NBA, tbh..

    Elite
    Pop
    Thibodeau

    Good
    Rick Carlisle
    Rick Adelman
    Frank Vogel

Above average coaches, but nothing special
    George Karl
    Doc Rivers
    Erik Spoelstra
    Lionel Hollins
Mike Woodson(he's the most overrated in the league, tbh)

    Good assistant coaches
    Mike Brown
    Mike D'Antoni
    Larry Drew
    Scott Brooks
    Terry Stotts
    Randy Whittman

Coaches that hurt your team and don't specialize in any facet of the game
    Mark Jackson
    Duane Casey
    Keith Smart
    Monty Williams
    Kevin McHale
    Vinny Del Negro
    Ty Corbin

I don't disagree with where D'antoni is, but he'd make a horrible assistant at this point. He's an egotistical wop.

He's definitely up there, but I wouldn't put him past Pop until he has won at least one ring as a head coach. Its going to be tough these next few years as Miami is likely to be dominant, but Pop had to go through the Lakers in the early 2000s so there is no excuse.

I agree that none of those coaches on that tier would ever accept assistant jobs at this point, especially considering the NBA stupidly recycles coaches, rarely giving outsiders a chance..

I meant that D'Antoni is a specialist, at least he knows one facet of the game, unlike the coaches on the next tier..

its funny how people put thibodeau at same tier with pop just because he managed to outwit a nasty monkey who spent his childhood on a tropical island and who has basically no business how to coach a team. Pop is in a class of his own imho
