Just like the Derek Anderson-Steve Smith swap was a stupid short-term investment, letting go of Stephen Jackson and his negative IQ was the right move to make. That, and his agent was a total head.
I thought it was Stephen Jax's Agent that told him to hold out, and the Spurs got tired of waiting, so they signed Hedo. Jax ended up playing for Atlanta for alot less then what the Spurs were offering him.
At least thats what I thought went down.....

Some of you guys have short memories. Jackson wouldn't even negotiate with the Spurs--wouldn't even return phone calls. He wanted a max deal--no compromises. You also have a short, nostalgia skewed memory of the way the guy played. Throughout 2003, he had some huge shots most of which went towards bailing the team out of the stupid ing plays he made to put the team in the hole in the first place. Game 6 of the 2003 finals comes to mind. The guy played like for three quarters, and had he not, the Spurs would have run away with it. Instead, he momentarily pulled his head out of his ass, the Spurs won, and suddenly the guys a hero. He was a dramatic wash. And hey, some good he did Reggie Miller's last season. ing headband.
No point-four and this team would've just repeated as NBA champs without Jackson.
actually, last summer the spurs could've landed jax but they opted for barry.
What the was Pop and RC supposed to do, make a run at reacquiring a much more expensive Stephen Jackson when they were trying to extend Tony and re-sign Manu? Bad idea jeans.
we didn't sign him because we wouldn't have enough money after we just traded wilks for lebron when lebron needs to be resigned

Stephen Jackson was offended what San Antonio was offering him. I don't blame him but I do blame San Antonio.
It's obvious SA was being cheap with SJax 'cause he got more money elsewhere.

It was a good move. In the long term, they are better off without him.

What's funny about that? They didn't have to dish out the cash for him, suffer through his insane amount of TOs and that left cap space to resign Manu.

S. Jackson is San Antonio's Mr. Clutch which was the opposite of Hedo Turkoglu. Whoever thought Turkoglu was better was high.

i liked stephen but i wasnt willing to give him that huge ass contract... we basically made the kid
Bingo, mookie. Anybody who actually watched that series will remember how their pucker factor increased whenever Jax touched the ball.
Jackson was it at the time and everyone realized whenever they needed a 3 Jackson was the guy. You couldn't say that with Hedo.
