Don't back problems like Devin's never really go away?
Pop says that they were told by several doctors that Devin's injury is not the type that will be reoccurring.

I meant he should settle for a 2 year deal and then next year get paid like the 15 million dollar figure you are throwing out mb

He's a very nice player in the Spurs' system. Unless a team throws crazy money at him or the injury is much worse than is being let on he is worth a guaranteed deal of 3 years and $12 to 15 mil.

I think the Spurs will play it cool with Devin for a while. Other teams will look for signals from the Spurs regarding the health issue, figuring that the Spurs know more than anyone else about that. (Heck, they think the Spurs know more than anyone about everything, really, certainly about one of their own players).

I think another team will be unlikely to give Deviin any substantial offer as long as the Spurs are playing it coy.

That's probably why Devin's camp is trying to stir the pot now.

Yeah, Devin's injury unfortunately is going to cost him, at least for the time being.

That was seriously rude for KSAT and even below the low standards that you all have seem to have come to expect from them.
Stay tuned because A Spur from the last le run is leaving and it turns out not to have even been a player. It was only Lance Blanks! What's that all about! Blatant attempt to grab our money and screw us at the same time!
I don't know. They don't seem to be a great source of information.
ESPN insider, woai, NBA tv, all seem to be better. Save us needless angst!

    Motion to boycott!

    Any seconds?

I can't blame either Devin or Spurs management if he doesn't return to SA.

Devin is a higher risk no matter how you cut it. Not sure the Spurs want to make that big of a commitment in terms of dollars or years.

On the other hand, Devin is en led to go where he can get the most money.

does anybody really know what the salary cap (~54M) and luxury cap (10M more than salary cap) will be next year?
until then I wont really get excited about Devin leaving or not.

No one knows yet, but the guesses have been that the salary cap is around $50M.

I don't think anyone is expecting it to be that high. Chad Ford is usually fairly accurate on what it's going to be and here's what he says.

The salary cap this year is expected to come in between $48 and $51 million. For purposes of this article, we've split the difference and used an estimated $49.5 million figure.

Devin will be back if the Spurs want him back and that's all there is to it...he's not going to get offered 6 million a year somewhere...and he wants to come back.

I think the Spurs are going to consider the fact that he has had back injuries at playoff time the past two years...but I think they will also consider how badly he wants to be a Spur, the fact that Barry and Bowen are pushing 35, and that there is really no one up n coming behind Bruce or Manu...if his back injury really isn't a recurring condition, his youth will win out.

IMO, Devin will be back and he'll be back at around the 2.5 million figure that Kori mentioned earlier...

Every time I have heard Devin talk...it doesn't even sound like he's considering being anything other than a Spur.

I also think that the team that is interested in him probably is Cleveland...

No he didn't. He had a rib injury in the 2003-04 playoffs caused by Kevin Willis dropping him - they thought his ribs might have been broken. It wasn't his back.

My bad then...I knew he was injured by Willis but I thought it was his back that got injured.

I think that if there is really no problem with his back then he'll be back...if it is more serious, he probably won't be unless he takes a low contract.

The Spurs declined to sign anyone, in part, because Brown might be able to play in the first round.

The Spurs initially feared Brown might have broken his ribs after Kevin Willis dropped him when the two were playing around in the locker room after the Spurs' victory over Portland on March 9. Popovich said Saturday he thinks Brown, who has begun shooting, might be able to return for the third or fourth game of the series.

its up to Devin...does he want to chase the money in another organization that may or maynot play him a lot (see Speedy Claxton and Steven Jackson) or win more championships for less money?

shame on the Spurs for not signing him to a better extension. Devin, do what ever is in your heart. My guess is the Spurs will offer him 10M over 3 years, whatever that works out to be.

Does anybody know what happens if another team offers him more money?
Does Devin have to accept the other offer (in order to make the Spurs match), or can he decline the offer? (thats the real question)

I don't think anyone is expecting it to be that high. Chad Ford is usually fairly accurate on what it's going to be and here's what he says.
the salary cap doesnt matter, its the luxury cap that concerns the management. and everything I have read and heard says it will be a lot more lenient than in the past CBA.
