no youre thinking of my 7 string ibanez
Maybe I'm just getting old...but I only recognize a couple of names here...Clapton and SRV. Both worthy, IMHO. I didn't see Eddie Van Halen, he and SRV are my two all time favorites.
Page. Satriani gets honorable mention, however.
Stevie 'Rave On' Vaughn, nobody else comes within pissing distance.
I have too many favorites for just one, sorry. Each has their own appeal depending on day and mood.
Jimi Hendrix
Billy Gibbons
Duane Allman and ie Betts together
Eric Clapton
Peter Frampton
Jimmy Page
Alex Lifeson
Joe Satriani
Steve Vai
B B King
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Patrick Simmons
Phil Keaggy
Carlos Santana
Joe Walsh
David Gilmour
Eric Johnson
Carlos Santana...nobody makes me feel the music like he does.
Jimi Hendrix
John Petrucci
Randy Rhoads
Frank Zappa
Up-and-comer: Jake Cinninger (Umphrey's McGee)
yeah randy rhoads was bad news man, his version on the live osbourne cd of Bark at the Moon and others is soooo cool
the kid never stopped he just kept playing and playing fast as through the whole song
As an aside, Pete Townsend was awesome during Live 8. I wonder if he's better now than he's ever been.
Dead - SRV
Alive - Page
Dimebag Darryl.
Neil Young, without a doubt, hands down (and I heard all the greats live during the 60s and 70s, so I know from whence I speak).
Just check out "Cinnamon Girl", "Southern Man", or "Cowgirl in the Sand" if you don't believe me.

Gotta admit, though, Carlos Santana runs a really close second.
Al Di Meola
Randy Rhoads never played Bark at the Moon. That song was written in 83/84 by Jake E Lee after RR passed away.
I like Satch too.His tone is up there with srv and evh.but while were on
this subject,i remember watching this guy who played an acoustic but he
used a hardcore bass technique. He would just basically slap and tap. I know
that doesnt tell you much but does anyone know his name?
