Chip Crain, 3 Shades of Blue: Yes. Duncan is one of the top 50 players in NBA history; Gasol has had a great season. If you need someone to play 40-plus minutes and carry the team at the defensive end, I'd take Gasol. But Duncan is better for the first 40 minutes.

    Really? Top 50?

I'm impressed. After taking a 2-0 lead, winning on the road in Memphis is exactly what a champion would do.

Well, they are bloggers, not basketball experts. A lot of the good posters on ST know as much, if not more, than them about basketball.

Anyone even remotely connected with little espn or who works as a sometimes, semi, know nothing sports journalist's is simply put a braindead dunderhead doofus...period!!! The vast majority of these imbeciles have won their city's 'Village Idiot of the Year' award every year. The Spurs could win the NBA championship for 20 straight years and all we'd get from these morons are "duhhhhhhhhhhh, ain't they too old to be playing basketball at any level". Screw em all.

If I were a national writer, I would probably have picked Memphis too. Tough series, Memphis theoretically needs it more, and surely they won't be swept, right?

But as a Spurs fan, I knew they'd go after this one like it was their last chance and pull it out.

The problem for the Grizzlies is that they rely so much on the other team beating themselves that it's hard for them to get separation. Their offense can't win games by itself. Great defense correlates highly with championship teams but you can't win on defense only.
