I dont think any of us wouldve called this in 2010 for example. Spurs have been a dominant team for two years...a couple possessions in our favor last year and we beat a healthy OKC team with Harden. That aint blind faith imo.

Sorry but we were swept last year. We beat the Jazz and the Clippers, one team didn't make it this year and the other was beaten by the team we just swept. I wouldn't say we were poised last year. You don't get swept in a "couple plays here and there" scenario, that's all post game coaches bull talk.
This year we got fortunate to meet the Lakers' bench in the 1st round, and to meet GS in the 2nd. GS, still a decent team but let's not kid ourselves, they are a jumpshooting team, nothing else. We drew Memphis because RW went down. Memphis doesn't get past OKC if RW stays healthy. So we beat Memphis. We won't get so fortunate in the Finals.
The planets are in alignment, and they were for the Spurs this season. It won't happen again for quite some time. Fortunately the Spurs keep knocking on the door of opportunity, not waiting for it to come visiting. Once it presents itself, they were ready.
Let's not get all stupid and say they plowed their way through to the finals. They played great against mediocre talent. The best talent was injured, and we pretty much did what we did last season.
Spurs went into the Playoffs with TP nursing an injury, and with Tiago out of the 1st round. No way anyone sees them in the Finals at that point. When Memphis beat the Thunder, along came Lefty and opened the books for you.
Spurs play whoever is put in front of them. They have 4 sweeps the past two seasons, a WCF appearance and now a Finals one. Sure OKC backdoor swept them but they didnt cruise to it, theres wasnt this huge gap between the two teams...and there definitely wasnt one this season either with Beard gone. Theyve bee a Top 3 team the past two seasons, so not sure how thinking they have championship aspirations=blind faith tbh.

The steeple in the NBA tapers drastically around the 2nd or 3rd best team in the league. Below that it's pretty fat. So there can be plenty playoff teams who don't have what it takes to beat the Spurs, but then the Spurs won't have what it takes to beat the Heat and, if they were healthy, probably not the Thunder.

Sure. This year its definitely the Heatles and then everyone else, I never said otherwise. Last year was wide open though and prior to Game 3 in the WCF the Spurs looked like the favorites. All Im saying is when you have a Top 3 team in the league with a strong chance to be in the Finals, its not really blind faith to think they can win it all.
I predict it when the years the Spurs look like the best in the league/West tbh.
