Im ing pissed we didn't get HCA tbh, also it would suck winning in Miami, finishing it in SA would just be awesome but the spurs would have to win 5 for that to happen
As a fan, I'd take winning the chip in Miami over losing it, any day.

Spurs have to win 1 of the first two, and must then win game 3. Away teams that manage that have a good chance of pulling off the upset, but even so, they usually have to finish it in 6. It is very, very hard to sweep the 3 middle games, so you almost have to win 2 away.
Yeah, I think the Spures have to split the first two in Miami and win 2 of 3 in SA. Gotta be up 3-2 heading into game 6.

I keep forgeting, what's the logic in having this format JUST for the Finals? I also thought they were supposed to take this format away this year. Or is this the last year they're sticking with it?
2-3-2 is a historical thing simply because of the pain/difficulty/cost to travel (typically) coast-to-coast multiple times. Those cross-country flights decades ago were not exactly a pleasant experience - it's not the best now, but it's light-years better than it used to be. It's not as big of a factor within conference for 2-2-1-1-1 because the furthest travel (in theory) is north-to-south - not as painful as LA to Boston, etc - so travel times/cost are cut down substantially.

While the equipment/camera moves is no where near as difficult/as expensive as it used to be, the pain of potential multiple 6+ hour flights back and forth is the major deterrent.

Thanks for info, man. Makes sense now. Ironically, they don't have this format in baseball for the World Series, though.
Actually, the World Series have been played in a 2-3-2 format since 1924. In fact, the 2-2-1-1-1 is never used in the MLB nowadays, as the LCS are contested with the 2-3-2 as well and the Division Series are best-of-5. It's only the NHL that sticks to the 2-2-1-1-1 even for the Stanley Cup Finals.

both teams have played really well on the road. I don't think home court matters at this point.

Both teams play better on the road. 3 straight home games should guarentee Spurs 2 wins. Can we go .500 in Miami? yeah.

The Mavs won 2/3 at home and it worked. Realistically we will have to close this out in Miami in game 6 or 7. I think we can do it.

2-3-2 format is total crap. As mentioned, it's reasonable thinking the team without HCA will not sweep three games in a row at home and so it will have to win 2 games away. OTOH only the Pistons did it.
The Heat did it in '06 and '12.
